Do you look and feel better when you're in a happy relationship?

Question

So I ran into two great friends who have been dating for about two years now -- and the effect of being a happy couple is radiantly visible on both of them. They look great, are both fit and peppy, etc. etc. Where I remember them both being politely engaged in things in the past they're now always smiling vibrantly. (I'm so happy for them.) It got me thinking about whether we all look happier when we have an SO... I know that when I'm in a good relationship I smile more and have a bit more sip to my step, etc. and I take care of my guy so he looks and feels good too... then again, after my one really bad relationship I was equally happy and peppy... So for me I know that it's just generally about feeling happy and free, whether I'm with someone else or not...

What about you guys and gals? Do you believe that you look and feel better when you're in a happy relationship or when you're on your own?

You can be in a happy, fulfilling, wonderful, supportive relationship though sometimes not always, the partner could be dealing with mental health issues, depression, overwhelming anxiety, or some drama that really takes a toll on them… Looks can be deceiving, you never know what someone is going through under the surface and it is important to empathize & realize that. Just because someone looks fine, isn’t the case even if they are in a beautiful fantasy being the luckiest boyfriend or girlfriend in the world…

I don't know just my thoughts. I do believe our partners bring out the best version of us and promote us to be strong not just on the outside, the inside too. Just acknowledging we all have problems and whatever you are going through, I’m sure you can both get through it together.

Surprisingly, I think I look better when single. When in a relationship, people tend to get too comfortable and exercise less and stuff. You don’t have to put in as much work to still look hot like when single. I also think I feel better when single (again). Like I don’t feel that great when initially single, but after finally breaking things off, there's this trap-free feeling that feels amazing. Still, I want to be in a relationship, one that actually lasts, and I’ll never stop trying to be a great girlfriend. But I just don’t feel I’m my best self when taken.

I am very happy single, and I think it's a good thing. I'm not looking for  a relationship to make me happy , so if I did start dating or meet someone it isn't the relationship that is the source of my happiness. I am content with my life and happy where I'm at, so a relationship would just amplify what is already present. It's been a goal of mine to make certain that I have a satisfying and meaningful life on my own, apart from someone else. I do miss having someone to share life experiences with. There are things only a spouse can relate to or understand.

I'm absolutely a happier version of myself when I'm in a good relationship. That's why I really don't prefer being single. There aren't many benefits to being single other than not having to worry about having your space, being able to focus a little more on yourself, financial control (saving money on romantic gestures and dates) and maybe a few others.

But the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages in my opinion.

Yes. We dated 4-5 years. Worked through out differences. And now happily married for 3-4 years. Sometimes… I see my hubby smile for no reason… And you can just tell when though they may not verbalize… their behavior can’t hide their joy.
He is also mentally, physically and emotionally, and financially much happier.
there is no stress… if there are.. we work together as a team to resolve life issues.

I think it goes without saying, "Happy unions can uplift us as much as being a single pringle can." I much prefer being in a happy relationship, despite its ups and downs, because it reminds me that we aren't all alone in this world and that there is somebody else. After passion comes companionship and usually its harder to find a companion than it is to run into a horndog.

I think people feel and look better when they are happy…. Period but yeah it would be the same in a good relationship. Staying happy? Well that’s the challenge. I am mostly a little skeptical of “those” couples though….. one can plaster over cracks but if the foundations aren’t solid they will re-appear !

Hell no. Relationships are draining. I notice I lose interest in doing what I use to do physically ex. Hair, make up, taking pictures… even when I did dude never complimented me. I’m happier single not worrying about anyone. Cause those bad breakups really do you in good.

Even science and all it's researches about human behaviour showed that marriage makes life longer and healthier for both couples... etc

Yes I do. My last relationship made me feel really happy at times. But things can start well and then get worse over time. It takes consistency from both sides to keep it going. I learned a lot though and I'll keep moving forward :)
