I am not sure if I am. It's hard to tell.

At the very least I like her as a good friend. If we break up I will miss her.

She is different from my ideal person though. It took me sometime to figure that out and I am not sure if breaking up is the right move or I should stick with her and these are just some lows in the relationship.

Neither of us want to marry, We are both very lonely people who were frustrated by our surroundings and that is what brought us together. However, I think we both are in a better place now. I know she can easily find other matches because she has a great personality. I struggle at meeting new people and I am also horrible at online dating. She is the longest relationship I have had (2 years). My previous girlfriends were a while ago in highschool. I am now 30 and life is very different.

Have an abundance mindset, not scarcity. You don’t want to be alone, you’re comfortable with her, and I’m sure the idea of starting over with someone new is daunting. But I also think life is truly too short to be in a relationship that no longer suits you. Okay so you’ll miss her and may be lonely for a bit, but those are two emotions I’m sure you’ve dealt with in the past and made it through, you’d get through this.

I have had a rough time finding people. She is someone I finally clicked with. I think what I am lacking is the superficial stuff like the excitement of being single and finding someone new.

I like the suggestions of positive mindset. But, in all honesty its confusing. She is great in many ways. I think I am like a perfectionist and being unreasonable when she is 8/10.

I know you’re not a perfect person but I feel like that’s you just gaslighting yourself to an extent. If you’re telling yourself “maybe I’m too much of this or that. I’m being irrational” in this situation it just sounds as if you’re trying to accommodate a relationship you aren’t fulfilled in.

I want to be fair, so if the love is still there and deep, then maybe this is something you can work through. But by the way you explain how you’re feeling, I can sense the frustration, confusion and overall just the exhaustion or trying to make the relationship work when it’s probably ran it’s course.

I get that aspect of wanting to stay, you two click and it was a long time coming. Maybe you’re afraid you won’t find that again, but this is what I mean when I mention switching out of a scarcity mindset. If you keep telling yourself she’s the last one ever, you’ll be trapped settling for a situation that doesn’t work for you anymore.

Also, no problem! I know the relationship stuff is super irritating but I really get where you’re coming from, it sucks a lot.

Difficult question. Very happy with the person. The problem is that she’s laid the fuck up for a decade-plus and can’t really be a functional human or relationship partner. None of it is her fault, she just dealt a really tough hand, and I’m just along for the ride and suffering with her in my own way. So the relationship is absolutely fucked and is pretty miserable to be a part of for so long…. but what am I gonna do, bail on her? That’s not how it works, that would be fucked up.

So I’m just waiting this thing out, hoping every year is the last year, but it never is. Hoping I’ll be happy with it again one day. It’s worth waiting for, but it takes a big chunk out of me. But on the bright side, all you folks on GAG get to see me on here all the time trying to distract myself and find some laughs, haha
