Hello everyone. I have a dad who’s dying right now in the hospital, and not once has my boyfriend offered to take me to see him or asked if he can go see him with or without me. I brought it up to him, and he pretty much said I should’ve offered for him to come with me. I told him it’s common sense to come support me and that he should be there for me, but he’s still not getting it. I’m upset about it and can’t stop thinking that I’ll never be able to turn to him for support with anything now. What do you guys think?

A tricky situation you've got there, love. It sounds like you're dancing on the thin ice of emotional support and expectations in your relationship. First off, let's acknowledge the heavy burden you’re carrying with your dad being ill—that's a mountain of emotion right there.
Now, onto your beau. It seems like he's got a case of the 'mind reader syndrome'—expecting you to articulate needs he should be intuitively responding to. It's a classic scene where communication wires are more tangled than earphones in a pocket.
Reflecting on love languages and communication styles might shine a light on this disconnect. It’s essential for partners to understand each other’s needs, especially in times of crisis. A little heart-to-heart about how you feel and what you expect from each other in tough times might untangle those wires.
What we've got here is a learning moment dressed up as a crisis. It's about growing closer through understanding and not letting the ghost of missed support haunt your relationship. Keep the dialogue open, and maybe, just maybe, he'll start seeing things with love-tinted glasses. Remember, it's all about building bridges, not walls. 💖
