What is your relationship count (NOT body count)?

I know you've seen many questions on this site asking about your BODY count. So many people think that the most important number is how many partners you've given your naked body. That's important, to some extent, but how many partners have you given your heart? How many times have you been in love?

I've been in love 8 times in 53 years of relationships and marriage. The level of mutual commitment in some of the early relationships did not compare to my later relationships, but the feelings were there and the loss of each of those relationships had a very significant impact on me. One of those relationships lasted 17 years and each of the others lasted at least a year.

My answer is two.

I was deeply infatuated with all my long-term girlfriends, beginning when I was 16. Infatuation feels like love, but I don't think I confused the two things.

I met a lady when I was 36. She was 30. We wound up living together for almost two years. She is the first woman I truly loved with my heart and soul. And she loved me. She was my ideal in every way. There was a barrier, though. I won't try to explain. But, as it turned out, we couldn't have made it through thick and thin as life-long partners. We separated even though we still loved each other.
Honestly, I still love her. I always will.

My second true love is my wife. We have been happily married now for almost 28 years. We trust each other completely and are 100% dedicated. She's amazing. I'm lucky. And I look forward to spending the rest of my life with her.

One. Love count and body count can be related. My love count is one. My body count is getting near 150. The one isn't equipped to satisfy me physically, but he satisfies emotionally. He loves that I get what he lacks from better endowed Black men, and I Iove that he loves when I do that. Coming from racist families and getting over that, we love to fight racism by the fact that the most endowed Black men are entitled to my body. He makes friends too sometimes and introduces me. That's why we are long term. He loves the fact that he doesn't give me; I am helpless to say no. He is just as helpless, so we are in this together and this will be the way of our marriage.

That's a toughie. I mean love? Real love? Or include crush type love lust? OK nor including that... I have been in love to my knowledge 4 times. Sex with all of them. Only two that could be real relationships. The other two were like soul mates in emotion and connection but a piece missing or barrier to actually being a relationship.

It is very very little considering body count... it's quite humbling. No wonder love hurts me so much when I give it so rarely.

Depends what you count as a proper relationship. I’ve had 10 relationships total but 7 of them were very short term (5 months or less) and not serious. I’ve had one relationship that lasted 3 years, one relationship that lasted a year & we lived together, and my current relationship where we’ve been together 3 1/2 years, live together and have a child. I would only consider those 3 relationships to be proper.

Depends what you count I guess... I would say 5 that were the most impactful and we actually called each other girlfriend or boyfriend.

My first relationship was about 8 months. Second was a year and some change. Third was 10 months. Fourth 8 months. Then fifth 2 years and a couple months. Been single since that one.

Four in all first when I was 9 her 10. Second one I was 19 she was 21. Third one I was still 19 she was 1 year younger, the last one I was around 20 she was 17 and she was the last 38 years ago. The one that really counted was when I was 9, I never forgot her and I never will and that is why I don't believe in the term puppy love.
