No , I usually know when a relationship is going to come to an end , by the way she changes on me and starts distancing herself from me , and no longer wants to be close to me , and no longer wants to intimate or affectionate with me , Especially when it was never an issue before. When I ask her what is wrong all of a sudden? , she usually doesn’t give me a valid reason why , she just makes lame excuses for her selfish actions and behavior , to the point I no longer waste my time with a girl that all of a sudden does that to me , without a valid reason to do so. I just show her the door and tell her to get out and not let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out. When a girl all of a sudden starts telling me she needs space and she decides all of a sudden she wants to do things without me , and stops including me in things when she never did before , and starts treating me like I am a convenience, I will start treating her as one as well, and I will have one foot out the door as well , If I am no longer receiving what I am giving I will not waste anymore of my time with a selfish girl , that only thinks of herself , when she was never selfish before. No loving partner needs constant space from someone they claim to love , only selfish people need space from someone they claim to love , Whether she is telling me the truth or not , it doesn’t matter , I am not going to stay in a relationship with a girl that all of a sudden needs space from me , and wants to live separate lives from me , that all of a sudden chooses everyone else over me , that no longer wants to do things together as a couple , that rather do things without me , I am not saying I have to hold her hand at all times , but when a partner all of a sudden demands space, when they never did before , that is a red flag to look out for , it means they are usually up to no good , they are choosing someone else over you , don’t fall for that nonsense whatsoever, because you are no longer a priority to them , like you were before. Do not be a sitting duck to someone writing SUCKER on your head. You are just a convenience to them and no longer a priority to them , they will try to string you along for their selfish behavior. Because I guarantee they are investing their time into someone else , behind your back or they are already cheating on you behind your back or planning to cheat on you as well. People that truly love and care about each other do not need constant space from each other They don’t plan vacations without you period. A little weekend getaway with friends’ is one thing once in awhile but if it’s consistent? You are best to kick them to the curb where they belong. If a partner is choosing their so called friends’ over you , you are best to just throw in the towel and tell them have a blast , because I plan on doing the same and I will not being waiting for your return , Go be a whore and go seek all the validation you want from other men because I will so do the same with other girls’ and become a whore as well. if a girl isn’t choosing me the same way I am choosing her , she is no longer a priority in my life , she just becomes a convenience as well. Space is not for relationships, Space is for astronauts , what do astronauts do? They leave the planet just like your partner is leaving you. . They may or may not come back to you. So someone that truly loves you , will not leave you behind whatsoever. If Some one loves you , they will make you their first priority when it comes down to decisions , they don’t make decisions without you period , it has nothing to do with insecurities it comes down to respect for each other , The key signs to look out for is your partners’ actions towards you , if your partner walks up to you and says oh by the way , I am going on a week vacation with so and so, without talking to you first about it , kick them to the curb , if your partner comes up to you and says so and so invited me to go away? do you mind if I go? Then that’s respectful , but the other way isn’t. Look for those signs, before wasting anymore of your time with someone that truly doesn’t love you , they love themselves . It has nothing to do with insecurities , it comes down to respect for each other , why boundaries and respect is important in a relationship, if you can’t follow the same boundaries your partner is doing for you , then you are a selfish person that only cares about yourself and don’t be surprised when they decide to leave your ass. What you can do to your partner , is the same thing they can do to you period

I have and didn’t understand it right then and there but I understood in hindsight what went wrong when more information was made available to me

In my case though she dumped me.
We were doing great.
No fights no disagreements.
Had a lot of friends in common and a social life.
Also chemistry when we’re all alone in every way possible.

Then she calls me over and dumps me
Going with the old “its not you it’s me” bs.

For context we are both expats in the country where we met

So shortly after she decided to pack her bags and move back home stating that she never wanted to be an expat and that life here was too depressing for her as she struggled to find work after college
(Not shocking considering she studied literature)

So in the end truly was as she said, wasn’t anything i did or didn’t do
She just couldn’t get with the idea of living here and being with me was contingent on that

Actually yes. She and I hit it off well and we were spending a lot of time together. She told her parents about me and they were excited that she "met" someone. My best friend thought he was going to be the best man in my wedding. (Even though it hadn't got to that yet... LOL) Then suddenly she broke it off. I was in shock. She gave me no reason. I found out a few months later that she had reconciled with her ex-boyfriend and they got back together.

Oh man @smashingdoozy it was sad to end it and afterwards I thought I made a mistake. I was sad for a long time afterwards. I was amazed at how different the world seemed to me. I used to think about this a lot. I try to tell myself that the relationship just ran it's course.
