I don't apologize for something that isn't my fault. It sets a bad precedent, and the unrealistic expectation that I will always apologize, no matter what.

If someone is upset with because of something I didn't do, then I will try to explain to them that, while it sucks they're upset, they're directing their anger at the wrong person.

If they persist with being upset at me, despite it not being my fault, then fuck 'em.

I feel you, but giving in and apologizing for everything is just going to make things worse.

It removes the issue of accountability from whomever is at fault, and just gets worse over time. It becomes expected that you'll apologize, and pretty soon everything will just become your fault, by default.

It'll quickly turn any relationship into a lopsided, toxic environment, which just isn't good for anyone.
