what does it mean if my older sister’s boyfriend, says he likes my sweater?

I don’t talk to them much. He seems socially awkward and more technical minded, POSSIBLY. His profession involves technical things. He seems to lack common sense and social common sense (like everyone does their share kind of thinking).

I passed by them to grab myself food really quick, and then go on my way, and he said “hope you don’t mind I came here for a bit to get some food.” (He’s said a few things like this before to another sister before and myself).

This last time I seen him, he said this and said “I like your sweater.”

It made me a bit uncomfortable.

Was he just TRYING to make conversation or was anything else connected to that statement? Also, his girlfriend (my sister) was also there, so surely he wouldn’t attempt anything wrong in front of her, right?

Yeah I got nervous so I just thanks to keep it decent and then said my other sister gave it to me, so he couldn’t compliment or like anything about ME lol like it wasn’t my choice of style; etc.

I don’t know, I just hope things work out with them 🤞, and the way she brought him around the family was so disrespectful so I have a bad taste towards them equally because of it. I try to keep the small talk to an all time low, so the comment to me was just a bit of a curve ball.

Believe it or not though I appreciate this answer. I WANT it to be nothing and wish it wouldn’t have been said altogether, in this case, honestly.

lol it’s just he’s there to date her and I never talk to them, initiate or make myself approachable. I keep it short and respectable. That’s all. I’m not interested in befriending him so I was very confused why he would attempt small talk with me. Is he there for me or the girlfriend?
