I don't know why but I subconsciously feel like if my girlfriend was the same age as me, she would be “smarter than me” in a way. Also, I feel like most girls would rather prefer a partner who’s slightly older than younger if given the option. My own girlfriend herself told me when we first met each other that she ideally wanted someone who’s either the same age or just a little bit older like myself, instead of a little bit younger.
