Is there point when a serial monogamist is really no different than friends with benefits?

Both end up with nothing serious in the end, just the wording ''boyfriend and girlfriend'' to make it sound better. They're just another temporary person that'll be ditched too.

If someone has a bunch of relationships (let's say 12 or more), even live with them and all ended up in break-ups, it sounds similar to friends with benefits and casual hook-ups. It's all base on the initial attraction and sex. But there the person is the type for something long-term.

What's the point of having lots of relationships if all of them end up in break-ups. It sounds like they can't develop a deeper commitment; long-term. There is something wrong if it follows the same mistakes, same patterns of break-ups.

It's always been funny how women who are single and just having fun get judged more harshly than women who are in relationships but have been in many different ones. But as long as you were in a relationship, you get a pass. Even if you have been in multiple relationships.

I don't get that either. At least the woman that is just having fun and not interested in having a boyfriend, is just doing that, being single and having fun; calling it what it is; casual hook-ups.
The ones that jump from relationship to relationship a bunch of times seem to lack stability and even emotional maturity. There is something wrong if you keep breaking up with every single partner you ever had.

Yep. If you have many relationships then you probably aren't gonna be reliable in your next relationship. Odds aren't in your favor.

If you're single and just hooking up then that doesn't say anything about how you'll be in a relationship because being single is nothing like being in a relationship at all. Different lifestyle, different rules, different behavior.

But why fall for the same mistake 12 or more times to find a spouse? Isn't that telling of an unstable person? If breaking up with a single partner you ever had becomes a repeated pattern, at some point it's not about being with the wrong person anymore but about you.

Asker... I agree 💯. There is a balance somewhere in there. First the person needs to question who they are attracted to.

It might also be that they know that society unfortunately frowns on women who engage in promiscuous sex, so they get into relationships so they don't look as bad. You can hardly blame them for that.
