Is it okay for my boyfriend to put me into a choke hold if I tickle him too hard?

So a few months ago my boyfriend got a little scalp massager device and it seemed we had a good laugh everytime we used it. I always liked the sensation and at some point my boyfriend decided he didn't like it anymore and he hid it somewhere in the house. When I realized he hid it, I tickled him and told him to tell me where it was. He's so stubborn he refused to tell me where it was, so I kept tickling him, and then he grabbed my hand and twisted it until it hurt, and I stopped for a moment but then when he let go I tickled again because I'm also stubborn! Next he twisted my leg until it hurt but I kept tickling back. This time he put me into a choke hold until I couldn't breathe. I was shocked it went that far. Am I wrong for not stopping the tickling sooner or did he escalate it too much by using physical pain? He didn't tickle back, though he did say stop, and at first it was just playing and teasing but then it got very serious very fast!

So I told him that I had asked others whether it was appropriate or not and he said that I was exaggerating when I said I couldn't breathe. He wanted to make it very clear that he used a specific type of choke hold which still allows a person to breathe. Does that make it okay then? He is afraid that I would call him an abuser, which I'm not, I only told him that he took it too far. He insists that I'm the one who took it too far and that he is not wrong in what he did, was it warranted?
