Am I ungrateful or are we just not compatible?

My boyfriend (34M) and I (29F) have been in a relationship for 2 years now. I put a lot of value on fine-dining and dressing up to go out to romantic, upscale restaurants (what my ex and I used to do a lot) and love trying new foods while my current boyfriend doesn't place much value on these things and will just look up whatever restaurant has decent reviews on Google. Valentine's Day is in two weeks and my boyfriend just told me the restaurant he picked out for the occasion and it is a restaurant I've never heard of and looks like a family restaurant that I can't dress up in a nice dress and heels at (Sofi Restaurant in Chicago if you want to take a look), and overall, not my vibe. I was hoping for something more like Tre Dita in Chicago (feel free to look up and compare). I'm extremely disappointed but have kept quiet. This is not the first time this has happened and we have argued about this issue in the past. The only way I'm able to eat at restaurants I like is when I take the initiative to treat my boyfriend out and book nicer restaurants and pay for all of it. Am I ungrateful or are him and I just not a good match?

Probably not a good match considering you both don’t see eye to eye on things. So if you both can’t compromise and figure out a solution to this problem , you are both probably best to go your separate ways. But do you really want to break up with someone because of restaurants? I know it’s nice going out to a fancy restaurant once in awhile , but if you expect it all the time , you will be wasting money on dumb shit unless you are both rich and can easily afford going out like that all the time. Me personally wouldn’t be with a girl like you mainly for that fact lol I only like going out to eat once in awhile cuz I know I can make better tasting food at home and cheaper. Instead of dropping a few hundred bucks just for 1 meal. Even if I was rich , I would still cook at home because I like knowing what I am putting on my food. Your boyfriend probably feels the same way that going out to fancy restaurants isn’t worth it and a waste of money

Probably not a good match, you two don't see things the same way. He's not a bad guy, and you're not a bad girl. You just don't see things the same way. You might be able to work past this, but maybe not. It wouldn't be easy, and it'd probably take months, if not years. Also, there's no guarantee that you could. I would discuss your different views and decide if breaking up is overall the best decision.

If it's your thing, take control and organise the event. Or specify where he is taking you and when, and tell him to make it happen. And then shower him in praise so he wants to do it again.
