There's a very basic connection in terms of feeling comfortable and warm, nurtured and taken care of. There's a sense of opening up to someone once you've shared a meal or beverage with them. Some flavors or scents go so far as to remind a person of home, which is where the expression comes from. Something that is prepared just for the one you love and reminds them of home and hearth helps them feel connected and appreciated... which in turn tends to lead to their show of appreciation towards you. Is it ACTUALLY love? Hmm. Only time would tell.

Food is important in life and it's one of life's few true pleasures. The pleasure of taste. But I really never understood people that believe in that quote... a way to someone's heart is through their stomach. It doesn't make any sense to me. It doesn't matter how hungry I am. It doesn't change my opinion of someone. I don't expect anyone to feed me like a baby either. It's always nice being cooked for, but I don't think I that alone is ever going to make me love someone, no matter how good the food is.

Well biologically it’s close in proximity but if you have taken that route then you have taken a wrong turn or two. Joking aside though , a nice tasting well prepared meal , lovingly made can improve anyone’s mood, especially men I would say although not by any significant proportion. People generally have an emotional connection to food so the relationship to love isn’t really a stretch !

In all reality though I think it depends on the person. For me cooking/baking for someone is a love language. I enjoy doing things like that and I always tell people if I’ve taken the time to do that and give you some, or to do it for you it means I like you and I care about you.
