Is it really corny and ridiculous to be posting love declarations on FB?

Even though I'm in a relationship, neither of us feel the need to be posting love declarations nor songs on FB for everyone to see. I'm really more into consistent actions than getting frequently, verbally reminded that he loves me.

Why the need for everyone to know your feelings about your private, romantic life? I used to have a past boyfriend that would overused ''I love you'' and there was little actions. Then he expected me to post on his page frequently and would get upset when I didn't post anything back, just because he did. That was lovebombing, not love. That gets old too fast.

Honestly, do you see it as ridiculous when people post love declarations and songs on FB? Valentine's Day is upcoming and I'm willing to bet that some are going to break-up after those long declarations.

There's no "need" for it. There's also no "need" for you to be on Facebook at all. Or to compare your current guy with your ex...

"Lovebombing" is just another made up word. If that's the way the ex chose to express himself, why are you trashing it? Perhaps you just didn't appreciate him because he wasn't "action guy" the way you wanted, but what did you do to change that about him? Did you let him know you wanted less talk, more action? Or are you just complaining about it here?

There's nothing more or less ridiculous about posting things on G@G or FB. It's the same thing. They're public platforms. Why are you being so negative?

My ex boyfriend was the type of guy that say ''I love you'' so much and showing little actions. I think both have to come along. Words have to proceed by actions too. He would ignore things that would annoy me such as the times he stood me up (several times, sometimes cancelling a date at the last moment, being unreliable) being tardy on other dates and on my own b-day, him getting fired from two jobs because he came late due to him getting addicted to video games, etc. By him ignoring what bothered me and showing no improvements, it didn't show that he loved me enough. It's not just about sending your partner 10-15 b-day posts on FB, telling them often that you love them and dedicating songs if they aren't putting much effort into the relationship. Then while he wasn't improving, he would continue with the how much he loves me, that one day we'll get married, etc. That right there is loveboming, words and empty promises without any directions at all.

Lovebombing isn't just a made up word. Narcissists tend to do that. They would be type of men that say ''I love you'' too much without even meaning it and even fool the woman into thinking they will get married one day by telling them about promises of marriage but never have any intention of doing that. They just bombard them with ''I love you's'' and the future but do nothing as promised.

Some people like it and others don’t. It’s not for everyone but works for some.
I want that. I hate being the to myself kind of person. I was a person to let everyone else know how they feel about me. I’ve never had that

My wife before marriage did this A LOT. It became where she was mad that I wasn’t liking every comment from her friends/family. It got so controlling.
So we now have a joint account for her and I (while having separate accounts). I gave her full access to the joint account. That way she has a place to post all our pics to close family and friends and every ‘like’ is given from us.
Thankfully after that she never bothered me to comment or like another comment again.

Some people do it today but they are, as you said, corny for doing it


The best thing is to keep private matters private


Sure you post things about your life if you like and your partner can be made public through that but the deliberate love declarations make you look stupid if the relationship later ends

I barely use FB, mainly I only use that to communicate w older relatives and family friends of my parents, I don’t mean that in a negative or bad way just, that is how I use FB. But in general (like on other social media) I think you need to know your audience, it can be kind of a show off “look at me” type of thing that might make some people feel bad if you overdo it but, at the same time I am not embarrassed by my relationship or anything like that so it naturally comes up a lot and I say how I honestly feel which is loving and grateful that we have a good relationship.

yeah I see it as pointless. In reality many of those relationship where they declare love on FB so much end up breaking up later on.

Honestly, many of the relationships that break-up are those that post too much love declarations on FB. Then you have to go over every single post and erase everything from your history after unfriending them. It's a hassle.

Then when a break-up happens, comes the hassle of having to erase every single of those posts and songs after unfriending them and explaining to family and friends what happened when they ask questions about it. Plus if they were all in good terms with your partners, all of them will then think their time were wasted too, all that online declaration for nothing.
