I guess there are some contexts or situation where I would 'believe in this phrase.'

In general though... as a phrase that can be broadly applied, in most situations, no. Absolutely not. I think that is complete horseshit. I think it is a nice sounding phrase that sounds nice, but has no substance. It is just not how most things work.

Now, it depends, again on the situation/context. It is very likely that I am interpreting this phrase in a completely different context.

Because in general this is the philosophy of 'manifesting' the philosophy of "you're only poor because you wanna be" and "you are unhappy because you choose to be."

Sometimes a person may want to, but for some reason, they maybe be unable to, for any variety of reasons.

Maybe they don't have the means, or the skill, to do something they want to do. Maybe they are physically incapable, for whatever reason.

My point being is that it's simply too broad a phrase to apply indiscriminately. You should always consider other possibilities beside "they don't want to."
