Have you ever had a situation where you saw something and was thinking or said out loud something like "Thank god my wife/husband isn't like that"?

I was at the lake today. This family, Husband, Wife, two daughters, was there as well. Due to the day (Sunday) and it being late in the afternoon it was just them and my wife and i. We weren't there with them, and when we got there, they appeared to be leaving. The dad was helping put away their stuff. He apparently forgot the towels for their daughters on the way back and she literally told him "How could you be so stupid, i told you to get the towels, you wasted a fucking trip? Fucking moron." rather loudly and in front of her daughters. I did my best to not react beyond telling my wife "Thank god you're not like that, we wouldn't last" My wife's response was "Yeah and in front of her daughters too". I dont think they heard us..

But here is the rub people, I dont care how angry you are at your spouse, i dont care what they have done. Treating them like that is never acceptable. Shit like that causes cheating and divorce. I actually felt sorry for the husband. He looked dejected, beaten down, Like he wasn't a man any more, just his wife's whipping boy. I felt sorry for their daughters because of the example she is setting for them. But there is nothing i can do beyond thanking goodness my wife and i aren't like that, that we have a better relationship. I'm willing to bet they are headed for divorce.

What about you GAG, Do you ever have situations where you thank goodness you're with the person you're with instead of a shit show that you saw happen in front of you?

Unfortunately that type of shit happens more than we like to think it does between guys’ and girls’ , and shockingly some of them stay in that type of relationship because they think it’s normal behavior. My ex was diagnosed with PTSD and ADHD and the shit she would say to me out in public sometimes was disrespectful and embarrassing , she didn’t give 2 shits what other people thought or said when she was verbally attacking me. , I would just walk away from her and act like I didn’t know who she was, I knew she had a mental illness so I didn’t flip out on her , but when she got to the car , I would have words with her in the car , telling her she needs serious help , which pissed her off even more , I tolerated this shit for quite sometime mainly for my kids’ sake and got her the help she needed , when my wife was on the right medication she wouldn’t act that way whatsoever, but unfortunately her medication would only work for a matter of time before it stopped working , so it was back to square one with her being an evil bitch again. I felt like I was married to DR Jekyll Mr Hyde , not knowing what I was coming home from work to , Sadly underneath her mental illness , she is a sweet loving caring girl , the girl I fell in love with , but sadly through the years her mental illness got worse and worse to the point she was out of control and making my life a living hell , but I stayed for my kids’ sake , when our kids’ got older , she unfortunately became worse and more selfish , to the point her and I were butting heads like crazy , she then decided she wanted a separation and I said fine , I can’t force you to love me. When she left , I ended up meeting another girl that treated me like Gold and felt a huge relief that this girl was like an angel to me compared to how my wife treated me , So I called my wife and told her I wanted a divorce and told her I met someone else that treats me like Gold. My wife cried and begged for me back and I told her sorry that ship has sailed the second you wanted a separation. Long story short the girl was leaving my wife for turned out to be married as well , so that was the end of that relationship when her husband found out she was cheating on him with me. As for my wife and I she was still begging for me back so I gave her another chance , but dumbest mistake I ever made , My wife and I hit a crossroads on our marriage that I feel there is no hope for , we both decided to stay friends’ and have an open marriage we agreed when one of us falls in love with someone else we will file through with the divorce. My advice to everyone that meets someone , make sure you check their medicine cabinet

My wife and I agree that my younger sister seems to think that everyone who's not her is either an idiot, malicious, or negligent. She's not open and blatant about it, but we get that sense about her. We've told each other stories about our interactions with her and there's a lot of eye-rolling.

Now on the flipside, sometimes my wife's emotions get the better of her and I've had to tell her "you do not speak to me like that". And that's usually the end of it. She'll apologize after a few moments and then we forget about it and everything is wonderful again. So yes, I'm very blessed to have her.

I see this type of thing all too often because of living on a military base. a lot of acutal fights/domestic violence stuff so something like that id consider mild tbh 😂
