Do you think guys get the same support as women do after a break up/divorce?

Usually the stereotype sees women getting swarmed with support from friends, family and especially other men; while the guy is all alone.

In my case though I think I have been surprised at all the support I am getting, and especially the empathy shown by other women - both younger and older. I get more attention and I admit I sort of capitalize on the situation by putting on the persona of the guy that has a big brave smile and doesn't get dragged down. I think it's that kind of optimism that draws them.

I had someone commenting it looks like I am moving on too fast, but what am I supposed to do, fester and get all depressed?

I didn't hear of this stereotype yet. I think that support depends on the network one has at the moment of a breakup, and it also depends on whether or not someone wants that support. Because support is also a perception aside from being a fact. On that last aspect, I can see a cultural scenario where men would become withdrawn after a breakup while women would be open. I can also see a psychological scenario where someone expects support, gets it, but is unsatisfied about the results. Which, in turn, makes them say they didn't have support. It seems complicated...

Depends. Divorce wise do women offer their spare bedroom to their gal pal because they lost their home and a cabinet full of booze, a fridge full of food, a humidor full of stogies and the use of your D7 to bury the evidence? Yeah, probably not since women usually get the home along with all the other cash and prizes that go along with the feminine retirement program. Since women are not usually the ones suddenly homeless in the equation and losing over half of what they earned through their toils, because you know, nothing demonstrate a strong independent woman like the man she raked over the coals in divorce court to become “independent”. Girl power and all that jazz, eh ……. I dare say the support system is different for men.

Yeah, some fall back into their pile of guy friends. The conversations and activities they share are qualitatively different than what girls share, but it helps the person get past the heartache either way.

Women tend to get more attention then guys’ do it’s been that way for years. Unless he has a great reputation and is liked by many then he might get more support than she does , My ex was a basket case so when her and I separated ,? I ended up getting more support than she did , mainly because everyone that knew her , knew she was a basket case and out of control , even when her and I were together , friends’ and family would tell me why am I with her? And say I deserve so much better but i didn’t listen to them because i loved her and i knew she suffered from PTSD which sadly she had no control over which sadly gave her the bad reputation but underneath her PTSD she is a loving caring person that sadly a lot of people didn’t see. But eventually I couldn’t handle her PTSD anymore either because she ended up getting worse not better , so walking away was the best thing I had to do for myself. So overall if you have a great reputation and you are liked by many , you will more than likely get most the support after a break up. I had girls’ hit me up the second they found out I was single again.

I would think that it depends on a few things, like the size of your social circle, who is blamed for the breakup, and how communicative the guy is about his feelings.

At the time of my separation, I had 7 women in their late 20 to late 30s working in my office and they were super supportive and even tried to set me up with their single friends. My family was also very supportive but COVID started right after I separated so I didn't see a lot of my friends during that time.

Ah ha ha ha you must be new at this. Either that or hey a little sarcasm makes good comedy question. But yeah they will come running with blinders on saying of course men get support during or after breakups but the receipts from the system the courts the system all prove otherwise all one need doing is research.

Lol. No. Absolutely not. We live in a gynocentric society that coddles women and makes men the villain in every story. We don't get nearly the same amount of support women do.
