I rehomed my sister inlaws dog, my boyfriend is mad. AITA?

hey everyone.

last year in October my partners sister and her boyfriend split up, it was pretty bad how things ended with them 2, they had a dog and a cat. I found out that their cat ended up running away (the cat was constantly outside, and the girl never fed it). during this time they were trying to find a home for their dog, but didn't find one. One night while i was at work, my partner texted me and asked me how i would feel housing the dog for a week. i didn't really want to, but the dog was at my doorstep before i even got home. my partner and i didn't have time to even discuss options about the situation. his sister just dumped the dog and drove away. a week went by and the dog was still at my house, at this time my partners sister was visiting and acting like she didn't even own the dog, she would kick it and even swear at it

after a few months my partners dad (who lives with us) wanted to keep the dog (without discussing it with us first). he ended up going away on holidays and trusted my partner to look after the dog. my partner was not, the dog was bored (my partner never played with him, walked him , etc), he had free roam of the neighborhood, was getting fed once every 2 or so days (my partner could not afford his food and expected me to buy food, i am currently paying for bills and my own cats feed), was sleeping in a shed with no blankets. he was constantly getting out and people were putting up posts about him in Facebook groups (which i addressed to my partner and he laughed it off). in the end i ended up rehoming him to a family with 4 kids and a dog. they came and picked him up the day before.

my partner got drunk last night and ended up talking about the dog, saying that he wants the dog back, he is going to find him and steal him back and that the new people stole him, because they never spoke to my partner at all about taking the dog. i was fed up with my partner negligence at this point and tried to do what was best for the dog. AITA?

i was doing what i could do for him, playing with him, walking him, buying food for him. it was getting to the point i could not afford to feed him and tried to get in contact with animal places for assistance with food for him. my financial situation (at that time) was terrible, my partner was unemployed, and we were trying to live off my single income. after rent, bills and food for my cats came out. i had nothing left to offer, i was constantly borrowing money from family members for food for the dog. even if that meant i was going without. i was going without food so the animals here could eat.

i told my coworker and manger about it all and broke down to them. my coworker was the one that told me about the family and how they have kids and another dog (really told me their living situation). a few friends told me i did a good thing rehoming him since my partner, his dad and sister obviously didn't care about him. i feel guilty, but i really did try my hardest. my partner was not helping :(

Im like so confused, you are so unhinged over me just shortening that phrase. Are you okay? Im generally just asking. I've never seen someone actually crack over something so minor.
