Is your current relationship "boring"?

Question

If you are in a long term relationship, has it become boring to you: predictable, routine, you can finish your partner's sentence, you know what they want for dinner tonight, etc?

If it is not boring, have you or your partner done anything to keep it from becoming boring?

If it is boring, have you tried anything to resolve that problem? "I was bored" is often an excuse for infidelity; would you consider being unfaithful to bring excitement back into your life?

Boring is the phase where the true love is formed. It's supposed to be about being two halves of the same one, right? About feeling absolutely comfortable with someone that you no longer feel the need to impress them every day. Of course, that doesn't mean you shouldn't try new things with your loved one to spice up or make the relationship or your time together more interesting.

I really don't know why people who cheat for excitement get in a relationship in the first damn place tbh. A relationship is about reliability, partnership, commitment first and foremost.

Yup. I'm boring, he's boring, together, we enjoy our boring, predictable, stable, happy lives cooking homemade meals, watching TV, playing video games, ordering take out, and listening to audiobooks.

On occasion we'll go out with friends to a restaurant or pick up a latte from around the block. The movies theatre or comedy show is still a special 'night out on the town.'

Boring on our own, and boring together - but still very happy.

Not at all. Everyday is new excitement 😂. We have known each other since 2016. Married since 2022.
we are traveling throughout Europe 5-6 weeks this summer. We already found places to come back to fur next summer. Tomorrow we will visit the other areas in Caen. We ordered a car to drive out to Omaha beach then visit St. Michele.
throughout the other 9 months, I visit my mom 2-3 times a week. I try to go out with my friends. I also like my own time. I can’t stay in one place for long… so I always come up with plans and ideas.
I think I drive my hubby a little nutty for having such high energy and active mind and always on the go. @lightbulb27
he also likes to keep himself busy, between fixing the cars, the house, the garden, go on his bike ride, hang out with his dirt bike buddies, church activities, I encourage him to visit his families, his sister also came to visit, our families come visit often.

From your description I would offer that in many ways “boring” is actually sought after. To know each other that well that days and weeks etc can to a certain extent , largely be predicted is one obvious by-product of spending time together , communicating well and being emotionally connected amongst other positives.

I think that many people mis-understand these aspects though and further confuse them as negatives and then “invent” drama to oppose the “staleness” they interpret.

My relationship is far from boring but perhaps to an outsiders eye it could be termed as such , but I don’t care and why would I?

I’ve been married once I have two kids from that marriage a 25 year-old son firefighter and a 21-year-old daughter recent graduate from Michigan. Who lives with me. I’m now single but hell no it is not boring. I own my own four bedroom house three car garage with a pool Jacuzzi With three cars and a truck and a Suzuki GSXR 750motorcycle. I can pick up the phone and have a girl come and stay with me for a few days. I have a lots of female friends That are also single so no never boring. And it isn’t just sex either. we do all kinds of shit together whoever is with me. I’m rarely home on the weekends.

Well I just got married this year, but we were dating for 6 years before. I think it's important to be adventurous. Me and my husband have a google drive document that we've had for years. it has different sections. New restaurants to try, vacay ideas, even board games lol. We look at it together every week (or most weeks) and try out best to do new stuff.

We are both homebodies for sure, but we do out best to mix things up

I think a great deal of it is due to us being a part often enough that when we have time together, every moment is like we're still falling in love, every moment is precious. My first "real" relationship was with a guy I worked with and then lived with, that relationship was dying, mainly because we spent an unhealthy amount of time together. I think now, we have the perfect balance.

Single so I can't comment though in my opinion a boring relationship is one that lacks problems no arguing no drama and that's a good thing. But you can always spice things up sexually or do something exciting to break a routine up that's easy.

Stuff like predictable, routine, you can finish your partner's sentence, you know what they want for dinner tonight that's the goal not the problem in my opinion. And it's harder to achieve those kinds of things.

If I’m being honest — yeah, parts of it can feel boring sometimes. That’s kind of normal in long-term relationships. The routine sets in, you know each other so well, and things lose that “new” spark.

But boring doesn’t mean bad. It just means we need to put in effort — try new things, go on different dates, surprise each other. I wouldn’t cheat to feel excitement again. If I’m that unhappy, I’d talk about it or leave, not betray someone.
