What if… No sex at all in the beginning of the relationship?

I feel people take things way too fast and relationships dwindle. While I understand temptation, I know how it feels. But love making should be to the point when marriage is close. My theory won’t be popular, but what’d you?

Although I disagree that love making should wait until being near marriage (not strong disagreement, just not how I'd want to do things. But I see nothing wrong with waiting that long if that's what you want to do), I do agree that people rush into having a sexual relationship way too fast. I often hear that on a first date, you should kiss. On a second date, you touch each other heavily if not have sex. By the third date, you should definitely have had sex by then. I find that progression to be insane. I barely even know this person. I've only hung out with them three times. Why on earth would I be willing to have sex with them? I'd much rather form a deep emotional connection and then have sex, not just see it as something to check off the list so I don't lose a guy's interest. Clearly he wasn't that interested in me as a person to begin with if he needs sex that early on to remain invested.

Men have always been the gatekeepers to relationships / marriage, and women have always been the gatekeepers to sex. That's just nature. The problem is that, since the sexual revolution, men have been taking their gatekeeper role MUCH more seriously than women have been taking theirs. That should come as no surprise given divorce laws and the female biased court system in the US, and the diminished benefits to men of marriage and commitment.
