What special things do you do for someone you love, that is no longer here, on their birthday?

I try to do something "new" to remember a love one that passed away every year on their birthday. I'm looking for some new Ideas. Ideas I wouldn't think of myself.

I would try to cook their favourite meal, and if we have friends/family we share, I would have this meal with them and share stories we had with them.

"No longer here" was my nice way of saying dead. I was asking because I try to remember someone in a "new" way every year. I was looking for some unique ideas I've never thought of...

In that context the only family members who have passed away are my grandparents on both sides. My fathers parents are buried nearby and I generally pass by on their birthdays and leave a flower, however my mother's parents are buried in Michigan and they were gone before I was born and I have never been to Michigan.

One of my favortie things I've done is get people together put messages in balloons and let them go. Not quite fireworks but the message to heaven idea kinda hit home, you know. I can't figure out how to top the Balloon idea in my mind but I bet more people would come to see fireworks then came for the balloons. That's a good idea

That's really good I was gonna say too if you live near an ocean I live on northeast coast so I've thrown bottles in ocean before not about this topic but just to see if anyone would call even if you live on a big lake or something

Do you mean deceased? I pay no attention whatsoever to the deceased other than perhaps missing them, but even then not so much.
