If a proposal was meant to be a prank, should he reveal it years later?

Do you think my older brother should reveal this to my now SIL (sister-in-law)?

10 years ago, he proposed with a fake ring. It was suppose to be a prank but noticing how emotional she got when she accepted it (didn't even notice it was a fake ring and never care for expensive things either) and knowing she would've been devastated and likely end it, he couldn't proceed with it, never told her it was originally a prank. Instead he ended up extending the engagement for a year, saving more money and lied about needing to upgrade the ring to give her a real one.

I didn't know this either. My brother just revealed this to me recently. Should he ever tell her or take that secret with him? She still doesn't know that. They already have two kids by now.
