People with pets do you believe they understand us more than we think?

My cat talks to me everyday and complains a lot😂 I love her. But im sure every sound means something. Evan if I dont know what it always means. Also I talk to her and she will respond.

Oh, absolutely. And wild animals as well. Crows watch our little farm all the time and communicate with each other in different tones, calling in others when there's spilled corn, etc. Other farms had a raccoon problem , would resort to trapping, shooting, etc. We would leave 1 large bowl of dog food out for them on the shed roof every night and that is the only thing they ever touched. They never messed with our chickens or anything else. They understood. And actually it's not them not understanding us. It's us not understanding them. 😊

Lmao! You nailed it! When I am home there is a certain morning ritual, Sadie (dog, sleeps in my room), does that jumpstarts the old lady for breakfast.

She is 17 so she has been developing dementia.. now she goes downstairs and has to check 3 rooms in order every day like 5 times/day.

She has to eat right outside the door (from outside the house).

Also around 9 PM everyday she starts meowing and going to the bed. Showing me to sleep lol:)

Yea my German Shepard and cat know me very well , they know when I am happy or sad or pissed off , when I am pissed off they will walk in the other room but when I am happy or sad , they are by my side.

Most people teach their dogs a handful of basic commands but they'll pick up quite a few other words by themselves. Unsurprisingly they tend to be stuff they enjoy like walk or the name of the local park. I reckon if you say cats, rabbit, or squirrel most dogs will recognise at least one word and get over excited.

Dogs understand some words they associate positive or negative memories. Cats are less intelligent and I don't think they recognize words at all, they just hear tone of human voice to get information about our mood.
Most dogs understand words like bad, good, walk, food, go away, stop, sit, stay... however I don't think it's an essay vocabulary
