I am from Indian traditional family. The perception of Indian women as highly supportive is from deeply ingrained cultural conditioning and societal expectations that emphasize family, sacrifice, and community-centric values over individual needs. This is a characteristic trait, and learned behaviour reinforced by the cultural environment. Key factors contributing to this self-perception and external view include, cultural values and upbringing from young age, cultural glorification of the sacrificial mother / woman figure in society and media, very family-centric society, empathetic decision-making approaches that is considered the well-being of the wider community beyond personal gains. Most Indian women embody these supportive qualities. Modern Indian women are also increasingly seeking independence, self-worth, and a balance between their personal ambitions and family life, challenging some of these traditional expectations, but still care about family and social traditions.

Just say you are upset because men contribute more for the humanity and the world that is why you are romanticizing and fantasying about being a woman.

Yeah, my mom’s always been supportive to me, even in instances where she didn’t fully understand it. As long as it made me happy and nobody got hurt, she always supported me. It influenced me to do the same for all of my friends, including one who specifically said me supporting their idea to become a pastor for their own congregation helped them actually start on that path for themselves.

I'm about an 8/10 for being supportive. I'm pretty introverted and like my own space, but I help others when I can. I have trouble saying "No" and usually say yes even at the cost of my own comfort and time. Every time I catch myself talking about myself in conversation, I try to redirect it about the other person, because I really don't want to come across as a narcissist.

Obviously this doesn't apply to questions like this on GaG, where people asks others about themselves.

If asked directly and given a heads up then I'm going to be a great team player. If I sense I'm being used not so much.

  • As a relationship coach, I'm all about support and understanding in helping people navigate love and connection. I'm like a romantic cheerleader, minus the pom-poms. Supporting my better half and our little superstar daughter is a thrill, but I also know when to give space. Navigating those intricacies in relationships is key to my approach. 💑✨

Yeah, generally I am. It takes rather a lot to get me to the point where I'll see a situation as hopeless and walk away.

Yes, I have been a supportive person since I can remember. I was always a super good friend, and being supportive came easy to me.
Not only with friends but my family as well.
I am not afraid to jump in and lend a hand whenever I could - no matter what the reason was.
I believe that being supportive also entails encouragement for people.
As I am writing this opinion about myself, I have flashbacks of sooo many times in my long life that I was very supportive no matter what the reason was.
I've tried to make a difference in people's lives and I believe that I successfully have done that numerous times.
I will continue to be supportive to people who are good people and deserve support from me.

    a supportive person yes...

"very supportive" not sure... as I would not just support terrible ideas, lol... and I would rather guide or help someone with something that is going to be positive for them

but, at the end of the day... yes, I will always be there for those in my life, and if they call me at 3AM, middle of the night and ask me for support and help... I am not one to ask "why" or "what" I just say WHERE... as I am already on my way over there... lol

I can be too supportive meaning I give too much etc, this too how I've "burned" myself out in relationships when I feel something is wrong, something is going wrong, or how I try to fix things for others. It comes with a downside, not just for myself, but the one I am trying to be supportive off, as they themselves do not then have to do their part of supporting themselves, realizing and changing something, by doing so making things easier for me. I have taken punches when others who I was trying to protect would not stand by my side, too scared, and I've told myself to not do that, they are taking the easy way out. I'm not going to do someone elses dirty job for them, you only get used. I am not supportive if I am indifferent, it depend on the situation, the people, I have my limits. I try to be supportive when I need to be, and not when it is not needed and ut's really up to themselves.

    Yes, but not blindly.

I’m supportive in ways that actually help someone grow, not in ways that enable avoidance or self sabotage.

I listen, I show up, and I offer steadiness.

But I also believe real support includes honesty, boundaries, and sometimes saying the uncomfortable thing.

Support, to me, isn’t about fixing or rescuing.

It’s about standing beside someone while they take responsibility for their own path.

I'm supportive in the sense I'll be a good listener, a shoulder to cry on and be blunt about my perspective. Not everyone can handle that but the ones who can appreciate that I never turn my back on people who are trying and it all comes from a place of empathy.

I can be supportive, not on a huge scale though. I've not asked for support throughout my life except from God. I think a normal amount i give as needed.
