How do you deal with an emotionally unavailable person?

This may not solve anything, but you could try creating trust on your part the way you are in general and not ask anything in return. Without me being aware of it someone like that got gradually so used to it, caring for me. Been told later this someone began panicing because wanted to be with me, but feared this meant that someone too had to be like me. One has to understand, being emotionally unavailable is because that someone been treated in such a wrong way in their past that is the reason for it, you are not the reason for it. Don't take it personally. That someone has to within want or be ready for a change and that is not something someone else can do for them, they can only be a symbol of something else.. You symbol what they deep down desire and deep down fears. The only way for that someone to be free from it is through successful therapy and that you prove yourself reliable. The biggest work to do is for that someone. You can give all you are able to give but in time you will empty yourself if you don't get in return.

You don't. You do your thing let them do there's. When you do this and your not always there then they will. either figure something out or it might take more time.. but you don't have to stop your life just because they can't get theirs together, and be honest, truthful.

If this is about a guy then my advice is to leave him where he’s at and wait for someone who is emotionally available. If this is just a general question about people then I’d say to respect their boundaries and don’t waste time trying to evoke emotions. It’s like if you’re a person who shares certain information with someone and then you want them to share something too because you don’t wanna be vulnerable alone. If they don’t wanna share then you feel upset when really you just need to move on, same thing here.

There's nothing you can do. You've said the word yourself "unavailable." This means, more than likely, that is how they are. They don't want to share, or they don't know how to.

This isn't something you can solve. And it's not something that they can solve unless they are committed to changing themselves. And such change will not happen immediately, but with lots of therapeutic help and time.

It's best to look for someone who IS available. You can't fix this.

Good luck molding another person's personality to fit what you want. That's not generally a high probability of success endeavor. You're better off looking for a better fit with a different personality. Or... reconcile yourself to the fact that this is out of your control and decide to live with it.

I see. That’s where it gets tricky. In my opinion, you’re better off cutting him off and finding another guy. Most guys who are emotionally unavailable don’t get better without serious therapy. Nothing you can do will help him. Plus, a lot of guys use the “emotionally unavailable” excuse to be serious players. (“I’m emotionally available enough to sleep with you, but not enough for a serious relationship.”)
