This one's for the older crowd who survived heavy divorce etc. Would you ever remarry?

A lot of folks have asked this year whether I'd ever remarry. Frankly, the guy was such a * and guys around where I live are such slim pickings that I'm not tempted.

• I've been propositioned by married guys and of course rejected those.
• I've been propositioned by much younger guys (very sweet, but tbh... it's not my style).
• I've been propositioned by moneyed guys who don't care about me but just want a trophy wife (which I always thought was a young little thing so it makes no sense to me now).

My answer is that if the right guy is on my path I'll consider it, however I'd rather aim for good companionship with someone who cares for and understands me.

I'd love to hear from you guys and gals. Let's go...

I did remarry.

Marriages don't fail because marriage is an anachronistic institution. "Marriage" never fails. . . it is people who fail each other. Fine someone who is as committed to forever as I am, and we will work together to make it work.

I'm not one of the older folk with tons of experience just yet, but I'll still share my 2 cents.

Just because marriage didn't work out once, twice, or even thrice, doesn't mean all are guaranteed to fail. It's the same as love. You may not find your lifelong partner the first time, the second time, the third time, or any time after. But I'd rather take the chance and be fully committed than not. I personally prefer the idea of being married to my partner and having faith in their character and that they feel the same.

I get it's not for everyone though.

My wife and I amicably divorced after 20 years of marriage. I dated a few women and met my current wife, we've been married for 9 years.

I understand a reluctance to remarry after a divorce, but there are benefits to marriage... with the right person.

It's fairly common for a divorced person to marry a divorced person, which brings certain advantages... You've both been through a marriage and know how to deal with it.

My wife, when we first started dating, did not expect to seriously date when she met me. We celebrated 11 years married a bit over a month ago.

I have been burnt twice by divorce, I'm like you I don't seek marriage again. However I never say never. Because I remember saying I would never get a smartphone but I did eventually get one in 2018 LOL. Like you my focus would be great companionship. Enjoying spending time together regardless of what we're doing. Great chemistry, at least some common interest. lots of love and laughter. That is appealing to me. After a year or 2 if things were r going really great I would be open to talk about it with them.

The married guys hitting me up is the insulting and irritating one to me. Makes me feel as if they look and think all women are disposable or something. Leaves me feeling very gross. I've asked the bartenders at my two favorite hotspots to help me out next time it happens bc it's annoying to get cockblocked by a married guy when you're at an event to meet someone nice.

Been divorced for 10 years now not sure if I would ever remarry. I guess it would have to be somebody really special to make me consider that again, but right now I have my own home and it’s just me, it’s not like I don’t try to find somebody but even being in New York I can’t seem to find them a normal regular woman that isn’t trying to use me or trying to get me to take care of them and pay for everything
