What's your opinion on those girls that get married after a 2 year or less relationship?

For me, that feels well within the honeymoon phase, when everything feels great and beautiful, which means that the vast majority of fights and differences in views and opinions would show up not long after marriage, when it is too late to back out. I couldn't imagine marrying someone after a relationship that is less than 4-5 years, and I feel like all the girls who pressure their partners to get married after less than 2 years together are just afraid of being single or worse, of having him discover something about them, and they try to force the guy to marry them just so he can't run away so easily...

That depends on the relationship I think two years is reasonable to get married as long as you have genuinely gotten to know one another for who you really are and are compatible. As well as if they’re willing to put the effort in long term.

But the same goes for the men it takes two to get married so obviously both people are marrying fast. But you’re right some people go too fast fall in love with a image of one another… and then become resentful later on. Especially, if there was really no deep talks about what one another wants. If someone wants lots of kids and someone wants none. If someone wants a traditional relationship and the other doesn’t…. And in the worst cases. Someone was pretending to be someone they’re not and the mask comes off once you’re married. Now you’re stuck and a divorce is harder then breaking up.

Also, pressing someone too fast for marriage can be a red flag. It’s like a used care salesperson trying to get you to sign a contract super fast that sounds too good to be true…. Before you can read the fine print or ask too many questions. Then they got you….

Sometimes it’s well meaning. Too invested too fast. But there is also future faking. Where someone doesn’t want to get married for ten years.

I'm in the same boat as you man. I prefer to be in a relationship with a girl for at least 3 years before even thinking of marriage.

I personally find that people who spend less than that to illogical. They don't care to get to know their partner as much and statistics actually correlate as well.

My opinion is everyone different to process a relationship or value their partner. Some people got married just after 6 months relationship and happy marriage. Some people get married after 6 years dating and divorce just after 2 years got married.

Thats pretty normal in my opinion. Any longer dating then 2-3 years without plans of marriage seems like the guy just isn't into the girl

I’m sure many may question my opinion given that I’ve been in a relationship for 13 years but the timing is generally relative to the couple. 6 months is a long time if your spending most days / nights together.


That being said , 2 years I’d say is about right and certainly tracks with so many other couples I know , who’s weddings I’ve actually attended.


Clearly not for me though , but I’ve been against marriage for quite some time even though that decision isn’t resting easy with me in the last 6 months or so.

I would never agree to it. That's why if I was ever The Bachelor, I wouldn't propose at the final rose ceremony, I would make our relationship official and exclusive, but I am in no way, ready to marry someone. Especially since I was dating other girls up to that point. Heck, if the overnights proceeded as they normally did, I had sex with another girl.
I don't know about waiting 4-5 years, my minimum is 3 years if we've lived together for a year. I know I can love the for better and in health. I need to see the for worst and in sickness before I commit.

To me, it comes down to communication and sharing the same or similar values. If the couple communicates well, that is a big plus. And it can't all be based on infatuation. The infatuation phase isn't going to last.
