If you are lucky, you have never had a partner cheat on you. Or maybe you had a partner cheat but you never learned about it, so there was never the opportunity to respond. But if you have caught a partner cheating. . . did you give them a second chance? How did that work out for you? Looking back, do you regret giving them a second chance?

A girl I was really attached to cheated on me. She told me a couple weeks after and I cut things off on the spot. She was really surprised because we had a good conversation and a fun night after. But I told her that as much as I'm glad our last night together had elements of positivity, I didn't want to talk again.

Then she got dumped and this kid who I barely knew asked for my blessing which I gave him the OK. But he became disrespectful. So when she came back looking for someone who could give it to her the way she liked, I did but eventually I just couldn't stand to look at her. I’ve never been cheated on in my marriage, but I’ve coached tons of people who gave cheaters a second chance. Almost every time, trust never fully recovered. Constant suspicion, overexplaining, phone-checking, trauma-bonding.

I have never cheated and in the dating process before exclusivity I make sure my postion on it is well established. For me that is a big no go zone. I will usually avoid women who admit to cheating in the past also.

I was warned by his sister in law that he has a wandering heart and he did.
On the other hand, he asked me to marry him several times. However, I couldn't marry him because Social Security would take away 1/2 of my check. So, he was over 21, single and free right?

We did end up living together and never talked about it at all. I knew that he really loved me and I loved him very much.
He is my boyfriend who I often speak about on this forum who died suddenly on September 8, 2023.
