I am only going to be with someone that's genuinely themselves, as long, of course, as they keep in mind the occasion

and my family also knows it very well... she is WITH me there, and not for them to pick apart and judge as if it were for "them" lol

in movies it’s a classic scene “my dad loves the eagles. DON’T bring up the dodgers” or whatever

it got me thinking how uncomfortable when i brought my ex home. i had talked about my fam and i didn’t realize he was taking notes in that way. he used stuff i had said about my sister and brothers like he rehearsed what to say when he meets them. it came across so not genuine. he didn’t answer a single personal question and evaded talking about himself by feigning interest in things they didn’t even tell him yet

it was a turning point. i broke up with him but then took him back because I’m dumb like that oops

No, I've always wanted my parents to meet my actual girlfriends. Same thing when I've met their parents. No facade just who we are.
