Is being in a relationship actually worth it, or is it better to stay single?

I hear a lot of mixed opinions on being in a relationship/married and single. People that are married always say don’t get married. Others say they hate being single. I’m 36 never been in a relationship and very rarely dated. I would like to experience being in a relationship. Is it worth being in a relationship with all the ups and downs. Or just staying single?

It is , if you are with the right person that values you the same way you value them , otherwise you will be just wasting your time and end up with a broken heart , if she isn’t on the same page with you. Why it’s best to really get to know her before making the big decision of committing. Sadly there are a lot of selfish people in this world that only want what they feel is best for themselves , and if things don’t go their way , they will leave you or betray you or backstab you behind your back. a few things I look for in a girl , is if she is honest , loyal and not selfish and we have great chemistry and connection together. A girl that wears my shoes the same way she expects me to wear hers. I will only get into a relationship with a girl that wants to be my team partner , that works with me and not against me. So if she meets my expectations I will ask her to be my girlfriend, unless she beats me to it. The scary part about long term relationships is the fact that sometimes people get bored and they feel like they are missing out on things , so they end up breaking your heart when they decide they no longer want to be committed to you anymore. Basically what my ex wife did to me after 22 years of marriage and when our kids’ got older. She decided to be selfish and single and ruin our marriage and family. I was blind sided and devastated but it just goes to show how people can change. Especially girls’ that are
Going through menopause or a midlife crisis. Now I am 48 years old and I am trying to play my cards right this time around and. Open to meeting a girl that values me like I value her that isn’t selfish

I am happily married to a good husband, we both work together to build a beautiful/happy life.

just use planning a garden as an example, we work so hard to make a garden pretty or grow fruit/veggies... it the same for marriages.

So find one with good soil (heart/values) and tend to it.

Find a good woman with a kind heart, work with her to build a good life together. She too needs to work with you so pay attention.

you have to know what you want, what are your values?

Do you both have good communicaiotns skills about love? life? how do you (her parents) work out when there are difficutlies?

I watch/listen to Dave ramsey... when i listen to how the couple talk (in the debt free screen)... thats how i know if they are in a good relationship.

At 36, you’re not late. You’re just entering the “no more BS, only real love” era. Try it. Don’t marry the first person, don’t ignore red flags, and don’t settle just to not be single.

It depends on the relationship. It depends on where you are in life. It depends on what you want to focus on at the moment. I'm divorced for 10 years with grown kids, financially independent, and loving the freedom of the single life and the constant flow of new women as friends and short term dating, sometimes sex, without the responsibility of a long term commitment, or the daily drama. It's a peaceful existence. I can basically do whatever I want when I want with whoever I want and answer to no one.

Most women are NOT relationship material. But when you find the few that are, it is oh so worth it! Be selective. She needs to EARN YOU. As much as you need to earn her. This is how you ensure you find a good partner and her one as well. I don't want to send the wrong impression, a relationship will always take EFFORT. It's never going to just happen. To many people today treat them that way and that is why so many have so many problems. But just because a relationship takes effort does not mean it has to be work. The right person will be a labor of love.

Yea I’ve noticed most women aren’t relationship material. Maybe that’s why I haven’t met anyone. So far it hasn’t been worth my while. What do you mean she needs to earn me?

I just mean being a quality dude isn't free. She pays the price for having that guy through being loyal, loving, and honest with him. If she doesn't want to be that woman because she somehow thinks you just owe that to her for her mere presence. Or if she simply doesn't know how to be that person because it just isn't in her to be that person, has never been in her to be that person. Well then she's NOT holding up her end of the relationship.
Know your worth. Do not allow a woman to try to dictate that to you.

And those women can pound sand. I PROMISE you those women WILL find a man. Because she's got 🐱. And some man will tolerate whatever nonsense she dictates to him to get it. But I also PROMISE you that man will only ever be loyal to that 🐱. And as soon as he gets a better offer he's gone.😆 And if she's honest with herself she knows that (which a lot of these women never are which is why you see all these angry pink posts on G@G😆). These type of women constantly delude themselves.

You just have to remind yourself dude, time IS on your side. It's NOT on hers. A good woman NEVER loses value. But a woman's physical attractiveness diminishes fast. They KNOW this! But the bad women get ANGRY about this because bad women know they have no other redeeming quality about them. They know when that value is gone they have NOTHING ELSE (like a good caring personality to fall back on).

That’s always what happens. Then they get mad and take it out on the guys. What do they expect. I’ve learned a little in life about women. Looks don’t mean anything. Like you said, a woman’s looks diminishes. I used to be naive about the really hot women. I met this girl when I was going through cancer treatment. She was taller and on the heavier side from the steroids. But she was the best. We always had a great time spending time together. That’s when I finally opened my eyes and knew looks don’t matter.
