Is it normal my girlfriend barely texts or calls while on holiday?

I totally understand she's on holidays but she just checks in me on me like 2 times a day, 2 messages and thats it no phone calls or video calls nothing... I want her to enjoy her time but she kept saying how much she misses me and loves me before leaving and now it kind of defeats the point.

Maybe im overreacting, I just thought a 5min call when she's free is not much but I dont want to beg for it either. Last time she did video calls this time not ass. ed

Some folks (myself included) find texting to be the biggest pain in the ass. We're better with phone calls or in-person communication where you can have the tangible experience of how the other person is feeling and also have the tactile "bonuses" like a hug or a snuggle while you're exchanging your thoughts. It's not the same with text.

There's a guy I know who is so personable on the one hand but then shuts down completely and is ice cold in his texting to the point one would think he's upset... but then he sees you and is warm again. It's just the anti-texting glitch.

Well, it's not a strong sign. You want 99% of her time on holiday to be hers, but I agree I would anticipate a phone call occasionally.

You’re not overreacting, you’re just feeling the mismatch between her words and actions. That stings. After 4 years together, a 5-minute call is totally reasonable. But holidays can change routines, energy, Wi-Fi, social pressure, all of it.

Don’t beg. When she’s back, calmly say something like: “I don’t need constant contact, but a short call once a day while you’re away would make me feel loved.” That’s not clingy, that’s emotional needs 101, not a red flag.
