I believe that relationships are 50/50 especially these days since the cost of living has gone up and secondly relationships should always involve both partners treating each other equally and taking care of each other and treating each other. Also if a couple is living together married or cohabitating both partners should contribute and there’s a better chance for a relationship to succeed like that and there won’t be any financial strain or resentments between the partners…….. So why would my mom think or expect that my boyfriend always pays for me?

Been together 4 years and he’s been faithful from what I know. Since we been together he always takes his phone everywhere to the bathroom, when he sleeps and I always thought that he’s hiding something but I can always look through it when I want he gets annoyed but I do it. He sleeps with it and if I hear something in the middle of the night he will show me it’s nothing. He says he doesn’t like me going through his phone as we been together 4 years where is the trust? I know he does it when I’m not there too, we are on the phone and he will go to the bathroom and sleep with me on the phone so

Maybe extraverted couples tend to spend more time together while in friend gatherings?

So me and my long term boyfriend have gotten into a small argument over an upcoming birthday party for one of his family members. Pretty much he wanted me to go with & I told him there’s not many family events I’m going to be attending in the future (except major ones like Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc.) given the fact that every time we go out some where he leaves angry, accusing me of embarrassing him and asking why I said/did certain things. And ultimately being upset that I made him look/feel stupid. He also cares a lot what others think of him (even his own family) which I think stems from his father always calling him dumb when he was growing up. Nonetheless, I am always blindsided and confused as to how we both had two different perceptions of the event. I feel as if everything I said was fine & warranted and friendly reaction from

his family & his thoughts are completely opposite. So am I wrong for not wanting to attend an event that I know will have a bad outcome & diminish my self- esteem?
He is not like this at all when it is just us two or he’s with my family. Also, I told him all of this & his perception is that I don’t want to put in effort, or it’s my own fault for my own insecurities. But at some point in the beginning of our relationship I felt really confident & loved being around his fam.

I also don’t know if I should just give up on us, I have a hard time letting go of things & I already have so much resentment built up that I don't know if I’ll ever look at him the same, especially because he is not very apologetic about the whole situation. I find that shitty, given I put all my effort into making him feel comfortable and good about himself. He has embarrassed me before but I would never think to tell him that.

Traditional gender roles in relationships are changing as more women take on high-paying jobs and become primary breadwinners. However, some men and women still cling to traditional gender roles, including the belief that women who out-earn their male partners will ultimately lose respect for them. Some research suggests that even when wives are the primary earners and both partners work outside the home, married mothers are still doing the lion’s share of the housework and child care.

If you found yourself always doing significantly more around the house than your partner, even when you're contributing an equal share of the household finances, how would you approach this to make things more balanced? At what point would you simply walk away from the relationship or marriage?

note : the last option is for Asian culture and the likes where it's normalised to reside with your parents and assuming some folks are either young or got some family money set aside or even family business — the last option is applicable.
