As for tunnel vision - I mean - they consider the immediate and long term consequences of every act before they enact it

For example - if I eat this bag of chips - I will gain x pounds and if I do this every month I will look this much fatter in the mirror

- If I sleep with this person - I sacrifice this potential relationship - risk this potential pregnancy - and risk this potential disease - as well as risking this potential heart break - and risk this potential tumor on my social and romantic reputation and influence etc...

Start a cult make all believers work hard for you for as little reward as possible, use the cults money as yoir own. That how religious people get rich by explotiting the believers. So basically same way as capitalism is exploiting their work force but usually to yet one more level of strictness they, may not leave and can not leave because they don't have the funds to do so without the cult support. Religion is just another tool. Not something that help you if you really believe in it. It will only be helpful if you use it when needed and disregard it when someone weild it against you.
