I read an article recently where Warren Buffet says the most important skill to succeeding in life is the ability to say “No,” to things.
This week, I returned a library book without reading it, and I’ve never done that before, because out of my desire to cultivate personality, I force myself to finish every book I start. The book I returned 65 pages in, is called the 48 Laws of Power by a guy named Robert Greene and I thought a lot of his teachings were unbiblical and immoral.
While the bible endorses a holy life, Jesus taught that a good life involves risk, and isn’t always the blissful symphony of endless pleasure, but in that sacrifice, there is value and beauty. Robert Greene was basically suggesting the total annihilation and destruction of potential opponents, when the apostle Paul said, it’s better to be taken advantage off, than it is to take advantage of others.
Now that I’ve stopped reading that book, I can devote my time and energy to profitable activities that benefit my personal drives.
