I believe partial beauty is in all places although total beauty might not exist, except among the most elite of all believers and ambitious sacrificers.
In the bible, the brothers desire to sell Joseph into slavery is rewarded with Joseph becoming pharaoh of Egypt as second in command, and Moses being trained by the enemy of his people causes him to become a religious writer and David’s persecution by Saul, causes him to become the ancestor of the Messiah.
Good things can come out of ugly things, and movies that showcase evil things can teach you good things. Like through a movie series I watched on drug dealing, I saw the power of family loyalty, the force of principle, the life saving strength of forging close connection, the persuasiveness of private virtue in social negotiations, the habituating influences of lifestyle peril, and the dangers of over simplicity in moral rationalization and logic, and through this, I learned psychological engagement cannot exist without humility, and that action is more powerful than words.
So I learned to see beauty in ugliness because the ugliness of sacrifice brings the beauty of spiritual bliss.
