Why I like being religious

As a Christian, I have many things you can't buy with money or social status

I have the promise of good health through the many verses in the bible about healing, many conditional on acts of faith.

I have peace, that I'm protected by God, and do not need to hire a thousand body guards to make sure I'm safe.

I have joy that is not based on what I have, what I experience, what I eat, who I date, or who I socialize with, its just delighting in God's virtue and wisdom, and God's wisdom is infinite and lasts eternally. If I had no money at all, even for food, this joy would remain.

I have reassurance, that even if I were to die, my life would still be good, that even if I got cancer, my life would still be worth living, that even if those I love died, I would have all my needs provided for, that even if those I care for are dead, they live in heaven. That even if I lose my eye sight or my hearing or my ability to walk, my life would still be good. I'm not even afraid to die anymore.

It comes within a person to be religious or be god fearing, you said it right there are many things that money can't buy coz those are god gifted and only few people get those from god

those are opposing what jesus said "you will suffer by joining me" the reason to join is not for protection but if you are convinced it is true. if you join for those "benefits" even if true still, not only is that not sincere but ignored the fact that christians suffer from cancer and die same as anybody not good health and enemies kill christians in less civilized countries so no promise of protection. "one who loves their life will lose it" is in the bible.

As a non-Christian I have many things that are available due to scientific and technical advanced, without spending time or money on ineffectual rituals. I have good health due to modern medicinal practice and pharmaceuticals tested and verified as safe and effective. I have indoor plumbing (in and out), heat on demand, electrical service, access to a wide variety of foods, the knowledge of the world at my fingertips. Religion helped with none of it.

Except a lot of people start questioning their belief in God when they suddenly have poor health or they got raped because they didn't have bodyguards walking around with them at night

I earned God's blessing, I had seizures so painful I felt like my entire body was being doused in sulphuric acid and I had a health problem that was even worse the epilepsy.

to beth, only if they hoped for protection but the book actualy said we must be willing to suffer when we join that faith.
