Do you consider Bill Gates a true Christian because He almost has 90 billion dollars in net worth?

Question

People often call Bill Gates greedy for having all that money etc.

And it isn't a Christian virtue to be insanely rich.

As far as I'm concerned he worked hard for his money and he does help by giving back a lot.

Besides, Job was a godly man and was the original Bill Gates of the Ancient world.

And King Solomon was super
rich too which the lord blessed him with.

Do you think Bill Gates is a greedy man?

Mark:10:17-27:

Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?”

And the disciples were astonished at His words.

But Jesus answered again and said to them, “Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God!

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

And they were greatly astonished, saying among themselves, “Who then can be saved?”

But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”

dude i've seen you a lot on here with Christian answers, and some of them i agree with and i understand your perspective... but who are we to go judging others as to whether or not they're a "real Christian" or not? I don't know what his beliefs are. by the way, no one can ever be a "real Christian" actually. not you, or me, or even paul or peter or john or thomas or any of the rest. Being a christian means to follow Jesus. yet as humans, we are imperfect. we may misunderstand things, we may live our whole lives thinking one thing is right and only find out a year before we die that we had it all wrong. that being said, we will never be "real Christians" because we are human, and that phrase pertains to following a religion more than the base. All we can do is try our hardest to be with him and that is how we are real. real enough. but not "real" as in the sense of the religion--ritual and rules. that is between him and God, not us to sit around and decide.

He has money but he has donated billions to help poor people across the globe. When he was in china - he refused to drink clean water - instead he said he wanted to drink the same water the poor chinese farmers were drinking - that way he could force the governments to increase the quality of drinking water the farmers in china were drinking and make it so good that even bill gates would be drinking it.

He is not greedy since he has helped and benefited the world in so many ways. He used his God given talents and he ended up getting money out of it. I'm pretty sure his intentions were not to get filthy rich out of it. He's just blessed. If you end up getting filthy rich and it wasn't your intentions and it was for a good cause and God knows your heart, in my opinion it's not a bad thing.

If he's anything like the rich man was with lazurus, then yeah he's greedy but if he's blessed and work hard for it then I would say no he's not greedy. It would be greedy if he wanted more money and kept dangling/throwing his money in people's faces.

There were true Christians in the bible that were very rich, because they were blessed by God. The problem is that you shouldn't care more about money, than you care about God. Much like when God commanded Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, and Abraham was willing to do it, a rich man should also be willing to sacrifice his wealth if it is the will of God. It doesn't mean people aren't allowed to be rich.

Of course a person without wealth can't be asked to sacrifice it, so it is easier for poor people to live in accordance with the will of God, since the poor don't have as much they could be asked to give up. Which is why it is harder for a rich person, than for a poor person.

Your financial status does not reflect your spiritual status, if it did, then Hughe Heffner and everyone in Hollywood, and Hitler were all “blessed” saints. This is the misleading of prosperity preaching, where they equate your financial condition to your spiritual. With that logic, Jesus would be considered a heathen for being poor while on earth, and Delilah would be considerate Godly for her wealth. See the fault in that logic? Dont judge by a persons bank account, God looks at the heart, not at your net worth.

I didn't know he claimed to be a christian, but he's a fine guy. I think upon his death 99% of his wealth is going to charity, so that's cool.

The man is spending almost all of his money on charity. Not only that but huge parts of his charitable spending are treating the sorts of things that will never personally impact him. The gates foundation is for instance hugely active in fighting malaria. Why? Because it’s one of the areas that each dollar spent has the biggest impact. It doesn’t impact rich or even poor white people so it’s undersupported normally. Nobody in his family would ever have gotten malaria. Nobody in his city would have ever gotten it. He’s spending his wealth on people that without going out of his way he’d never see or meet and almost never hear about.

He's not greedy. He started Microsoft and still holds a large stake. $90 billion is just a number on paper based on the current price of Microsoft stock. Sure, he has a comfortable life, can do mostly as he pleases but you don't see him spending millions on obscene consumption. Instead he's busy running a foundation focused on the health problems of underdeveloped countries. Before he dies he will probably give away most of his wealth.

by the way, Gates is an atheist.

I wouldn't say wealth in this instance is a sign of a Godly man. It MIGHT be but to say it is would be too objective. The fact of the matter is there are plenty of passages of scripture which speak to how the wicked prosper in this world, but how we are to lay up our treasures in heaven. He may or may not be a Christian, but I don't think his wealth is the deciding factor.

He's been extremely generous with his billions, but his generosity won't save him. He goes to church, but his attendance won't save him. Only by placing full faith in Christ's sacrifice on the cross as full payment for all personal sins is a person rendered righteous or saved.

Is he Christian? I read be believes in a God and his children go to a Catholic school but that it's the morals that he views as important rather than the stories. He said he agrees with people like Richard Dawkins that humanity needed to create creation myths and other stories in order to explain the things we didn't understand but that science has filled that gap now.

its just to appeal to naive christians. he openly supported the luciferian new world order and population control tactics. all these riches are also not made with the christian life. Christ said that if you have two clothes you are already rich and should give one to those who have none. a true repented person with the spirit of God would gift all these riches to the poor and go become an ascetic. he instead holds onto them, this means his heart is not touched by the holy spirit yet.

I don't think anyone can ever actually earn the amount of money he has. No amount of hard work could possibly justify that amount of wealth.

That being said, I don't personally have a steak in how much money he has unless he buys politicians.

And didn't Jesus talk about giving up all your possessions?

Just because his ancestors were Christian doesn't mean he is. There are many fake Christians who don't believe in Christ as their lord and savior.

I think anyone who is billionaire is not Christian, at that point you are probably a userer, which is a sin.

Bill Gates is basically just a smart programmer who got lucky by being in the right place at the right time. Is he worth all the money he has? Of course not, nobody is. But he's probably done more for humanity than the Rothschilds who have more money but don't advertise the fact.
