well basically, islam has 2 main sources (Quran and hadiths) to determine a fatwa or like some sort of rules and guidance for the muslims. Quran, you know the holy book and hadith is like a retelling or recount of what the Prophet Muhammad had done or said during his lifetime. That 72 virgins is said to be a hadith but rather a poor one because it is considered not authentic. There are lots of hadiths but not all of them could be considered as authentic. So yeah, it's not true according to islam :)
