+1 yThe problem comes from religious conservatives. If you'd back off and leave people who don't subscribe to your particular religious values alone you wouldn't be disliked. The problem is that you won't. You are willing to try and change the laws to prohibit "sins" you don't like, while refusing to see your own sins.
People who disagree with your values don't want armed men threatening to take their money, property, or put them in cages for not bending the knee to your religious beliefs. Any time you advocate for something to be made illegal, or required under the law, that's an endorsement of using said force against anyone who is noncompliant.
The gay marriage debate would be an example. You are not materially harmed in any way shape or form if 2 guys, or 2 gals marry one another, yet conservative Christians tried to prevent them from marrying in the eyes of the state. Your church is under no obligation to perform the ceremony. State workers are but your side backs Kim Davis, a 3 times adulteress, when she didn't want to issue licenses to gays wishing to marry when she worked for the government & claimed "religious values". Remarriage after divorce, as long as your ex-spouse lives is considered adultery in Christianity.
Remarriage after divorce is always labeled by God as a sin or specifically as an act of adultery
(Deuteronomy 24:1-4, Malachi 2:14-16, Matthew 5:32, Matthew 19:3-10, Mark 10:1-12, Romans 7:1-3,
1 Corinthians 7). God says clearly in Romans 7:3 that a woman “will be called an adulteress if she
lives with another man while her husband is alive,” explaining that only the death of her husband
releases her from the law of marriage and permits her to be remarried
Another example would be prayer in public schools. What the courts ruled was that you could not coerce students to pray, whether it was by school mandate or social pressure. Your side represents this as an assault on your rights when it's really the protection of others from your assaults on their rights.10 Reply

+1 yI don't know which crowd of atheists you've been around, but speaking for myself, religion is the bane of my existence. I don't necessarily like the topic because... I don't like it. If it's something that's not life related, don't lecture me about it.
I did believe that there were many gods instead of just one, but after reasoning with myself about what proof I have and could possibly find, I just stopped believing because it's pointless to believe in something that has no valid proof.
I do believe after death, there is an afterlife, but there's no heaven nor hell.
I believe the reason why we can't communicate with our dead loved ones or a few dead in general, is because they are no longer here. Which means they are unable to feel our contact because they are gone from the afterlife.
Had you ever wondered that there may be other people out there? Outside this galaxy? Outside this milky way? That there's another Earth similar to ours? I really wish I can confirm that. Maybe the reason why we couldn't contact those few dead people is because they are in the other milky ways, reborned or reincarnated.
The reason why we could never feel our loved one's presence is because they are somewhere else other than this Earth.
The phrase, "Your loved ones are watching over you." Is just a saying with no meaning behind it. If you can't feel their presence, then there's no way that they are possibly watching over you.
You religious people pray to nothing and wonder why you never receive a response. Even as a kid, I knew I felt the vibe of bullshit every time my Christian aunt drags me to church with her. The pastor always yells like he's trying to manipulate and scare people. We have religious people, fanscinated, thinking, "woah... The Holy Spirit is in our pastor. He's now our Savior." Then y'all end your day by walking out the church, seeing them as a human being and act like y'all didn't see the Holy Spirit.😂12 Reply- +1 y
I've seen the miracles God has done in my life, when I pray I do receive a response, a very positive one at that. My relationship with my Father is strong but you wouldn't understand that because you're not In the spirit. Many people lack understanding of spiritual things because they've been forced to believe in it. That's what's going on with you. You're lost and searching for answers. I pray that God grants you peace that you may be ready for what He'll reveal to you, and gives you the humility to accept His will and His way 🙏🏾💛

I might've been forced to believe, but I'm the person who focuses on logic.
I find it odd how many religious and unreligious people view god in many different ways; it's fanscinating.
I think it could go for any religion. Also, it does kinda depend on where you live and the dominant religious ideology there. For example, in the west, christianity is dominant and atheism as a social study or whatever historically has been based on disputing christian claims. Either way, monotheistic religions are quite similar so really, disrespecting one religion is disrespecting all

+1 yI respect most any religion until they try to shove their religion down my throat. And trust me on this, it happens to atheists more often that atheists do it to religious people.
Its not your place to convert me, its not your place to teach me, its not your place to shun me or judge me for my lack of religion. And there is a VERY good chance that i know more about your religion, and its history than you do. I Studied most faiths in college, and have read the bible and Koran cover to cover several times.
But when i have people telling me that i can't celebrate Christmas with my family because im not christian, Don't whine to me when i call them on their bullshit. Most christian holidays were pagan ones before Christianity co-opted them and stole them from the people that created them. And trust me this type of conversation has happened more than once.
Personally when it comes to religion, I have a live and let live policy, Dont talk to me about it and i won't have any issues with it if that makes sense.21 Reply- +1 y
Typically when i see religious posts on here i ignore them.. But when i see a post like this, deliberately saying things about atheists which is untrue i feel i must respond.
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yNot at all.
Let me clarify the situation for you.
Christianity, Judaism and Islam can all go and fuck themselves.
Why?
Because they are all exactly the same religion for a start, thats why they are bundled together and they are all religions of hatred and intolerance of others.
So it is in fact you, if anyone who is the hypocrite here.
Now I know that you want to think that your beliefs aren't hateful because you tell yourself you are a good person and therefore all of your beliefs must also be good.
Trouble is that none of you agree with each other about any of this nonsense and so we must look to the book and to history to see what it is about and its very clear that the book is wall to wall hate and death to non believers and women and gays and all that stuff and there is a long and bloody history of fiery persecution to be seen whenever religion has been dominant in a society, as you can see in the middle east today where religious law is backed by the violence of the state.
The fact of the matter is that there is not a single piece of evidence to support your false claims, its all bullshit and you should pull your head out of your ass and start living in the real world.01 Reply

+1 yEven when I was an ashiest, I was always taken aback by how rude they were to Christians. All the Christians I had known at the time were some of the kindest loving people I knew. To see people just attack their way of life with an excuse of "I'm just honest." was extremely off-putting. I don't believe in the spaghetti monster is one I've heard. It's as if these people don't even have the social aptitude to regulate themselves in a scenario of realizing it's wrong to insult somebodies way of life.
As Christians, we need to realize that these people are being led by Satan and culture without even knowing it. I was at that point in my life too. They don't know the truth, and we need to detach the sin from the sinner. Also, there are some bad Christians that make the rest of us look bad. We need to be especially careful on how we present ourselves to the world because people are very quick to point the finger on your faith as soon as you get caught up in the moment.30 Reply- 566 opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic.
+1 yJesus Christ said to his disciples:
"If the world hates you, you know that it hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember... that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also." (John 15:18-20).
Jesus Christ once said to his fleshly brothers: "The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify of it that its works are evil." (John 7:7).30 Reply I tend to notice that those who have the worst experiences with people of different ideas, tend to be the worst equipped to actually communicate in a healthy and reasonable way with them. Have you considered that perhaps some of that hatred has less to do with other Christians, and more to do with the fact that you're rude and condescending to people? That will often trigger a nasty response.

I'm an athiest, and have been since I was six years old. Personally, I couldn't care less about what religion people are. That's their choice, and I respect their decision to believe in something like that.
Assuming they also respect that I don't believe, and don't want to be "converted," that is. Those are the only times I have any issues with people who are religious. Christians proselytize constantly, but anyone who questions their beliefs or asks government agencies to follow the law and remain religiously neutral is being mean? +1 yI don't respect any religion, or any other kind of assumption or lie thats claimed to be fact (including your question and it's update, lots of people don't like other religions too, and if you think calling out bs is mean, well thats on you.)
If what you believed were important enough to defend, you would have evidence, logic, or math to back up your claim, and then at that point, it wouldn't be a belief.
Grow up, not everyone has to respect, nor defend your childhood fantasies, people can think what they want, and point out bs when they see it, and demand proof of a claim, and not want to put up with door to door harrassment, or cultists telling them how to live, if they so choose to.
If you don't like that, then I advise not being on the internet, or anywhere in public where that is bound to happen, and maybe not knock on stranger's doors to spread your bs.01 Reply- +1 y

You missed the brunt of this onslaught. During the 2000's, the new atheists rose to prominence and they were vicious. Richard Dawkins telling his tribe to publicly humiliate Christians. It seems a more moderate tone has been adopted lately. I can write a book about this topic, but I would be behind many great thinkers like William Lane Craig and Ravi Zacharias. @007kingifrit I understand your point in some cases, such as murderers, prison convicts seeking work in the outside world, or a convicted rapist dating a close friend or a relative however what I was referring to was the fire and brimstone type christians passing judgment on people for stupid reasons. Perfect example, I have friend who is very strong in her faith but is also a goth, and she gets judged every week by people in church because apparently if you engage in the goth subculture you can’t possibly be a Christian 🙄 (and I quite a few christians who are also goths, so hopefully you recognize the sarcasm in this last sentence).
My fault though, I should have been more clear. - +1 y
*I know
I know there's a lot of atheists out there like that, but I'm of the opinion those are the loud, bitter ones with a superiority complex. I feel like most atheists are pretty normal about it. Like it's not something they obsess over and really feel particularly compelled to openly express. I think a problem is that we live in a very cynical age right now. It's not just religion that's under scrutiny. It's also marriage, romance, love, art, poetry. I think it's very easy for a STEM type to think religion is so incredibly stupid. I fell into the same trap in my university years. It can be quite sophisticated if you move it into the realms of the arts and humanities and not the sciences. And even if we fail to develop an appreciation there, there is stupidity around us... in the form of radical feminists who think we live in a patriarchal rape culture, for example. If people think the religious masses are stupid, they are in for a rude awakening with the secular ones as well.

the first day - light was created
the second day - the sky was created
the third day - dry land, seas, plants and trees were created
the fourth day - the Sun, Moon and stars were created
the fifth day - creatures that live in the sea and creatures that fly were created
the sixth day - animals that live on the land and finally humans, made in the image of God were created
by day seven - God finished his work of creation and rested, making the seventh day a special holy day
Contradicts the Big Bang..

He says all animals fit on Noah's Ark, NO.
He says the planet is 6000 years old, BIG no!
He says the universe was created in 6 days, HELL no.

The Big Bang theory is very contradicting, it is important to understand that the Big Bang theory is just that—a theory. The exact nature or cause of that “beginning” has not been proved by empirical science, nor can it be.
There are Christians who believe in the Big Bang theory as well, the only difference is that atheists like the Big Bang theory because it "proves" that creation didn't need God. Old earth creationists like the Big Bang theory because it allows them to believe in God and still accept the messages that human science inundates them with. The Big Bang theory may be a useful model for deriving new discoveries, but no scientific theory can take the place of God's truth. - +1 y

It’s sad that the word gets mixed up and then people like the asker gets to use it against us without even knowing what it means. FAIL

Vehemently sticking to your guns despite evidence to the contrary is exactly closed minded. Jesus loves and is someone who is very brutally honest, and also very sarcastic, so don't think that if you were to talk him like that ^ he would just give you hug and kisses, fist he would educate your ignorance and then kill you with kindness. I love going on debates and I'm also confident in my beliefs and not scared to prove them, but I just don't waste my time with people who are narrow minded and no nothing other than to shame other people's beliefs. I debate with standard people not with people like you. Have a good day.
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yMost atheists are not mean to christians. It's usually christians though who are trying to force their beliefs into legislation.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yYou know that I really don't care what anyone else believes in because it isn't my business. I am a Shintoist, my spiritual path is my own and I could care less if anyone tells what I believe in is wrong. If you have any issues with this, please refrain from telling me because I won't listen not will it me change either.⛩️

+1 yChristians never respected other religions, who cares? All religious and non-religious groups hate each other. Because religion is gay.

You know exactly what I meant by mean, majority of them are mean and aggressive so excuse me for not adding "some".

None of them are the "victim of the month".10 ReplyNope, we're respecting religions, in general, until they're trying to meddle with our lives.
I don't know about the US, but in Europe, atheists are more scared of islam.10 Reply
+1 yI think there's just something about christianity that triggers them so much also because christians are so disciplined and they would feel like rebels hearing christian's gospels.
10 ReplyThis is not something I am aware of, I think people are more rude to Muslims and Jews and that Christianity is the least persecuted religion.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yIt works both ways. You think it's nice to constantly hear if I don't believe what THEY believe I will burn in Hell?
00 ReplyI’m not disrespectful to anyone’s religion, I don’t talk about my belief in no religion, so respect people who do the same and keep their views to themselves. It’s a personal thing, it doesn’t need to be discussed
