The fear of God, is the fear of doing sinful things. The fear of breaking His laws and commandments, due to the disappointment He will have in you

Fear (in this case) means humbleness, discipline and willingness to listen not actual fear like terror as such

Fear of God was something you associated with angry parents when you were caught drowning puppy's or shelving your sisters arm up to the elbow in your cousin's arse while you jerk off!!! 😱 or whatever it was they didn't want you doing..😂
God doesn't exist !! Otherwise he or she would have been so fecked off at the human race, he'd showed himself and bought judgement and punishment to those in his clergy preying on children. His own ranks are contaminated with evil peices of s#it , and continued protection and denial of the truth and that all comes down to coin$$$
Which The church has loads 😡 one Smooth talking snake oil salesman essentially created the biggest boys club worth millions of profit and tax exclusion while planting hands in a lot of pockets. Much like Scientology.. 😁 just bigger and not as ridiculously unbelievable when explained out loud.
Besides. . If there were a god, there would have to be some mention in the Bible about Aliens!! 👁๏ธ🪐🌠🛸
Maybe in the future people will be putting the Fear of extraterrestrials in the young and dumb🙊🙉🙈It seems that my entire life has been filled with ideas about God that are not what most people in my community share.
I don't know if I wasn't paying attention in religion class, or if my mind sees things differently than my peers, but, yeah, that's me.
I don't know how to answer your question because I don't know myself.
This next paragraph doesn't pertain to your question, but I feel that it's worthy of inclusion.
I found this scripture some years back.
It made a big difference for me in making the transition from agnostic to believer -
1 John 4:19 - "We love because He first loved us".
Good luck finding your answer! You're confused. Fear is in many forms, the fear of getting caught, is not the same as the fear of heights, for example.
When you're told to "fear God" it's more about not disappointing him and going against his wishes then having blind, ass clenching terror. The fear of god is a control technique used by the church, and the mosque and any place where any religion worships god (any god).
It's not real it's a form of getting people in line to impose dominion over those unwilling to take control over their own lives.
All believers have the same thing in common they refuse the burden of chosing what they deem right and wrong and prefer being told that by a book written by man.
That's not me denying the existence of an all powerful creator but that is me saying that this creator is above our understanding and certainty above the understanding of "holy men" which means whatever they preach in his name is just their own observations and not the word of godI always took the fear of God as a symbol of loss.
Not that he will kill you but the fear of the emptiness that will be placed upon you without God.
In regards to others I think it is the fear of Gods capabilities to leave you burdened. Like you would fear if someone you really loved decided to hurt you in the most painful way by leaving you taking that love away and replacing it with pain and loss. There is no reason to fear God as he is not worth fearing nor is he worth worshipping.
Now, I'm not going to get into his here, but if I'm to fear (or love) a supposed benevolent being of whom has a track record for mass genocide, sociopathic jealousy, narcissistic entitlement, immense misogyny, and blind slavery, then it's because he is an emotionally unstable psychopath whose followers are all, for the most part, violent, racist, sexist, antisemitic murderers whom would all gladly kill people that refuse to bend to their will.
Now, have a particular (insert adjective here) day.Yahweh is fake news
Contradictions:
Did John the Baptist recognize Jesus before his baptism?
Yes (Matthew 3:13-14): Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. 14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, โI need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?โ
No (John 1:32,33) And John bore witness, saying, โI saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. 33 I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, โUpon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.โNo it is not.. The " fear" of God means = the respect of or the acknowledgment of the God of Abraham as the only living God and creator of everything that was ever made...
Proverbs says that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdomLook, if he wants to punishm e he can do so, If i deserve it then why should I fear? If he is a good god he will punish me for the bad things I have done.
But since he is not punishing no prick, no rapist, no idiot around the world why should I fear him for being a good person?
No, I fear humans more, Becase it's them I dont trust.Fear is used in a different way in that context. It is used in a way similar to that of the respect a child should show to his parents. You shouldnโt be scared of God, rather the opposite because God will always love you no matter what. 💕 The old meaning used in the Bible is a synonym for reverence and awe.
Look, the fear is of God is a like you fear that he will punish you and no one will save you... And no one can.
The fear that you lie, you hide, you are wrong, he knows all even today in the eye of population you are not, but for him, you are wrong and you know that he will and no one can save you.The times that I had a thought about it yes I actually feel that there there's nothing really in this world that I'm scared of I would be a scared I would be totally afraid of God I think anything else you'd find a way to take it on I believe it would be completely opposite with God
Good question, some religious leaders will say/debate that it should, but I believe that it should be illustrated as high regard or respect... you should be keenly aware of his position and authority and love for us...
You know like when you're a kid and you see your principal at the grocery store you still wanna make sure you're presentable and appear as intelligent and well behaved as possible... because you know their status in your life...The fear of God is exactly like the fear of harm, the difference is, it makes you obey God from a place of love rather than from a place of baseless fear.
I personally feel like the fear of God was put in the Bible to gain control. I feel like God wants you to love him , not fear him. Fear is one of the major things that holds people back and stops them from becoming who they are or who they want to be. Its a major reason that homosexuality is so frowned upon. I dont know ish but its thats just my perspective.
Fear of God is simply the Churches way of worship, making it's followers for centuries fear being punished so they do everything they can to be, in their own image, "pure" and "holy" people to go to heaven.
It really depends on what the group you value generally thinks. These religious things will always morph to what a population prefers. The stories will always rise & fall with the ebb & flow of human civilization.
Fear is fear but one should only fear God if they have done evil and don't care that they have and haven't learnt
I was brought up to think that we should not let anyone telling us what to do, not even God. So long as our actions are morally correct and we are law-abiding citizens, there's nothing to fear... Not sure if I have answered your question though
My Sunday school teacher said it means to "worship him". But I guess in a way it can also mean to respect him
