If not, then did christians in the past have a different version of it?

u +1 yNo. The Sixth Commandment clearly states that "Thou shalt not commit adultery". There was no "different" version in the past. Many Christians today have simply embraced the spirit of the age and think they can do whatever they want.

So you never heard of The Ten Commandments?

Romans 3: 19-20
"19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin." - +1 y
Then why did God give his followers these commandments if not to follow and abide by? So I can perpetrate fornication and rape and murder for I'm a sinner in the Lord's eye? Would you regard something as relatively faint as cursing someone or flagging them on the street in the heat of the moment as an equivalent to adultery or murder despite them being in the 10 commandments?

John 12:47-48
New International Version
47 “If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. 48 There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day." - +1 y
So I'm assuming this is Jesus speaking. He isn't judging, but the Lord is on Judgment Day am I right?
So when there's judgment eventually & ultimately, I was wondering why that many christians neglect specifically the Sixth Commandment of "Thou shalt not commit adultery." is all what I was contemplating.

2 mo1 No. 'married person with someone other than the spouse' is a sin. 2 not really, but they did polygamy back then to add another lady. Mormon tried to do it in modern time in u. S. But supreme court explained "freedom of religion doesn't allow immoral actions, just free faith". I add worship ceremony is also allowed unless it conflicts morality. This supreme court ruling seems to me to forbid infant circumcision.

+1 yThe bible is pretty clear about this

That's not how salvation works in accordance to scripture. We're all sinners, including Christians. We humbly recognize that flesh is weak. Flesh being our bodies in this world. The goal of a Christian is to die to our flesh everyday. When I make the decision to not sin or give into temptation, I die to my flesh. We all fall prey to sin though. The only way to reach salvation according to the New Testament and Paul's epistles is through Jesus.

lol what? O_O

Anything is forgiven through Jesus excluding blasphemy against the holy spirit. There are different interpretations to what that actually means. You have to surrender yourself to Jesus through repentance. Repentance isn't just saying I'm sorry. It's an act that holds a lot of weight to oneself. I wrote an entire college essay on an exegesis/story of repentance pulled from Luke 7 if you're interested in reading.

@Curiosity2006 A lot of biblical terminology sounds straight up crazy to people who do not understand it. The New Testament was written in a time that has a lot of cultural, historical, and linguistic differences.
- +1 y
I'm sorry, one last question @Swollerbear @Curiosity2006 So basically christians are sin free? They're free to roam around the earth and do whatever they want, since Jesus died for their sins and they will be forgiven? If not then where's holding weight to repetitive fornication, despite knowing it's a sin? I'm sorry to put it that way and I do appreciate your responses, you seem to be an educated intellectual man.
- +1 y
@Swollerbear Evidently, as with the Song of the Songs that is an integral part of the bible. That has been also prohibited to be read by christians less than 18 or 21 years of age. XD
@Usher55 lol Don't ask me man XP - +1 y
Christians are not sin-free. The New Testament is filled with stories of sinners that went against the grain of religious theology of the time. The Sadducee's and the Pharisee's for example sought to reach salvation through good deeds. They wouldn't associate with sinners. Jesus brought an entire paradigm shift as he would hang out with some of the most contested and sinful people in society. This essentially upset many. To live your life holy absent of a lot of sin in your life, and then reach salvation the same way a sinner does was a cheap blow to them. Jesus openly welcomes sinners with open arms. Jesus essentially says come as you are, but don't stay as you are. Jesus is shown to change people and sanctify them.

It's cheap to a lot of people today in the same way it was for the Pharisees and Sadducees back then. Imagine that I live my life in a good way, and a school shooter repents and reaches the same salvation that I do? It doesn't feel right to me at times, but God judges sin differently than us. His plan with somebody else is not our business. The idea is to separate the sin from the sinner. From the Christian prospective, the holocaust isn't Hitler's fault, but rather Satan and the forces of this evil world working through Hitler. We are to be mad and upset with broken world and evil forces rather than flesh.
- +1 y
But Christianity is all about sinners. Christians are like the hippies of the ancient times. They're accepting of all. All kinds of sinners, underachievers, and broken people.
- +1 y
Sins have consequences on this earth though. Ultimately, sin leads to death of the spirit. If I watch porn for years in my marriage, it will lead to lust. Lust will lead to fantasies with others. Those fantasies will lead to an affair. That will lead to destroying my marriage and being broken and alone. The idea is that God can turn a bad situation into good if you turn to him though. Maybe you find peace, and teach others about the consequences of lust and save others from your heartache. That would be considered a ministry.

@Curiosity2006 Yeah I replied to that question.
"These pictures don't accurate depict the messages they're mocking. Taking ancient literature, and looking at it face first without any cultural, linguistic, or historical context is a fools errand. My best recommendation to study these texts is through the historical critical method. There are some notable questions about the authenticity in the New Testament. For example, we have the synoptic issue concerning the four canonical gospels. The epistles from Paul and the issue of pseudepigraphy. I've studied in depth scholarly arguments concerning the legitimacy of these ancient documents. I'm a Christian, and truthfully have some doubts consistently come to mind. Making a decision that there is no higher authority than us based on memes with no context is a asinine move though. Imagine if this is real, and you rejected it based on ignorance? It's at least worth looking into from an intellectual perspective." - +1 y
That sounds great. So Hitler is biblically vindicated? If I am to kill your wife, your mother, your father, your son, your daughter, your brother, your sister all at once would god/you forgive me for I'm not mistaken it's satan? Then after you do forgive / god does I kill you afterwards and would also be forgiven? Damn!! I'm in love with you and your god!! I'm going to ask one last thing, which... you need not answering it, since I took up much of your time.
Christians who commit adultery, after being christians, how can they be forgiven? - +1 y
There's no evidence of Hitler repenting. It would surely be an extremely challenging task to authentically repent and turn to god after committing such heinous acts against society given the foothold Satan would have on you. Christians who commit adultery after surrendering themselves to Jesus are forgiven if they repent. We are still to send these people to prison, because they are harmful to society given the foothold that Satan has on them. We cannot imprison Satan.
- +1 y
Repentance primarily concerns your salvation rather than voiding the consequences of sin.
- +1 y
The Christians in question, keep having sex with others despite being christians in essence Not before. If they will be forgiven, then so will murderers who are christians in essence. And if they managed to not get caught and escape without penalty in this world, they've hit the jackpot. Unless you people completely forged and re-elaborated The Six Commandment of "Thou shalt not commit adultery." I'm sorry for being blunt. But something is going on
- +1 y
If they continue to do that, then they aren't repenting. While they might not get caught in this world, they will pay the consequence on judgement day. They will also pay the consequence here on earth even if they don't get caught. It will erode the intimacy of their relationship since it will be based on lies. The six commandment still stands true. In the New Testament, we are introduced to Jesus who can forgive these sins though.
- +1 y
Many do it without being in a relationship so there's no worldly ruin. And Adultery means intercourse with anyone who's not your wife/husband. Then please preach your fellow christians about it, since apparently most christians are neglecting it. If they'll meet punishment in both worlds. I respect that.
