Trending & News I believe exactly what the Bible states. That Jesus was unmarried. Scripture states Jesus was sinless. That he never sinned. Because fornication (sex outside of marriage) is a sin I believe he was voluntarily celibate and that he died a virgin and never having married.
Nowhere in the Bible does it state that Jesus was unmarried.
No where does it state he was married.
You do have a point. It does not explicitly say he was unmarried. However it is very unlikely he was. He essentially lived as a homeless teacher for his entire ministry.
Many things were recorded about him but I find it impossible to believe that detail was left out. We know who his parents were, we know where he was born, we know who his disciples were, and we even know who his siblings were, yet no mention of his wife? That would have been an important detail that was just too important to have been overlooked.
It really depends on the opinions of the people who wrote the gospels, many years after Jesus's death. If they wanted to promote celibacy they may have preferred not to mention that Jesus was married. It's possible he was married to Mary Magdalen.
@AngryCarl2 There's no evidence to indicate this - it's a theory without the slightest indication of proof.
@loveslongnails That's quite true, but there's no evidence of the reverse either. I simply choose to believe that the Messiah was a fully formed human not some MGTOW loser.
@AngryCarl2 Seriously Carl? MGTOW? You're talking about the Christos who came for a very specific thing, to say the least, of an extremely spiritual nature which many believe to be the savior of mankind. Not marrying, or having the time or distractions which it involves, makes FAR more sense to his mission and has nothing to do with being a "loser"? Your logic fails me, Sir.
@loveslongnails Why are you so threatened by the idea that Jesus might have been married?
@AngryCarl2 LOL I'm not threatened by it, any more than every Christian I've ever known is threatened by the idea that at one time, he may have been just like any other man, but attained perfection. Why do YOU think it's "threatening" to others because they see no evidence of it, nor does it make practical sense that he was, based on what he came to do? I considered this theory, and I rejected it based on the reasons I've given. Is there a "chance" it's true? Sure, but so what? Without evidence, it's just speculation and pure distraction.
@loveslongnails Well I like to be distracted.
@AngryCarl2 LOL Ah, now we've arrived at the crux of the biscuit. LOL Jolly good show.
@angry
The thing is, Jesus is God in human flesh. How can God marry and form a unique covenant (marriage is a covenant) with a woman.
God married all of Israel in the Old Testament. Granted this is symbolic. The church is his bride in the New Testament along with Israel who God also divorced in the OT for 700 years of unfaithfulness in worshiping idols, but later remarried.
Given that, and his mission, I find it hard to believe he was married, though it does not specifically state he was or was not so far as I’m aware.
Volcel? Are we now going to make the vocabulary of the Incel "movement" an accepted and official part of the English language? I hope not!

I seriously doubt that Christ had time for kids and a family once he went about the work he came to do.
Jesus was neither.
Pardon! What’s the meaning of ‘volcel’?
A voluntary celibate is someone who chooses to live a celibate life without sexual relationships.
Thank you 😊
You're welcome
