It is a sin to not have hope from Allah.
You have to believe in Allah's mercy.
Having said that, understand that Allah knows everything in your heart. What matters is the sincerity of your dua. We do many wrong things; then ask for forgiveness; and then do them again. It's for you to look inside your heart and determine where you stand.
