I actually don't. My understanding of consciousness is that when you're dead you're done. It would be rather egocentric to suppose that your consciousness would be preserved after you die and placed in another body. But humans are generally quite egocentric so it's a very tempting theory.

I do not believe. One of the requirements for this assumption is the existance of souls; For which no proof has been found. Thus this seems like an awful stretch of the imagination.
