I have seen them argue that being against abortion isn't about religion and yet the majority of people who are supposedly pro life cite their faith as the reason or one of the reasons why they oppose pro choice. It's like they are willing to lie and enforce any means to claim the moral high ground that they never had.

The irony of the pro life argument is the Bible doesn't acknowledge an unborn child. There is only ONE verse that blatantly says if a pregnant mother is hurt by fighting & miscarries that then the father can enact "payment" from the culprit.

No where does the Bible mention of a babe as equal to breathing beings. Even cattle has more value than an unborn babe if you read and comprehend the Bible's entirety.

The problem is, is 90% of pro lifers have NEVER read the Bible properly.

They pick and choose what verses to listen to - making themselves sinners - that work best for their own ideology rather than proper religious teachings as per the Bible.

If you pay attention after all 98% of pro-lifers come from states and regions where not only false peachers - television "priests" & charlatans - can be found in droves but the general educational standards are below national norm and welfare statistics higher.

Soooo they are simply a modernday version of the uneducated rabble centuries ago that blindly followed priests spouting whatever - too dullwitted to actually question.

furthermore it is BOTH because both religion and logic have agreement. religion considers it life and ALSO the same baby born was the same one inside "even" without religion.

It’s not so much a religious issue as it is a moral one. Those who base their morality on their faith are going to agree with the views of that faith. Let’s use Christianity as an example.

Psalm 139:13-16 ~ “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.”

Jeremiah 1:5 ~ "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations."

Both of these verses tell the Christian pro lifer that God sees life from the moment of conception, and God can form a personal relationship with people in the womb. Therefore God views the unborn as living human beings. God also says “Thou shall not murder.”
The Christian pro lifer, who aligns their beliefs and therefore their morality on these statements, will view the unborn as a person, and so abortion as murder.

Yet Judaism which is a purer more accurately defined Abrahamic religion than Christanity (which is nothing but an offshoot corrupted by other influences such as paganism) doesn't acknowledge a child until birth.

And neither does the Bible if you are capable of reading & comprehending it from front to back. In fact, in its entirety, the Bible puts more value to the death or theft of cattle than an unborn child.

Religion is an easy argument. Easy arguments without any real substance come in many forms. Religion is just one of them. This becomes even more true with moral and social issues. There are no easy ways to justify your beliefs about something.

You could extend this to the extreme. You can not prove that murder is wrong. You can not prove that stealing is wrong. You can not prove that rape is wrong. Even though almost everyone would agree those things are wrong, they can not give a good sound argument why. But they can site religion and leave it at that.

Most people would believe exactly the same thing if they were not religious.

People often use their religion as an excuse. It's a very emotionally charged subject, but the science is relatively clear. Before 18 weeks, there is no evidence whatsoever to suggest the fetus is in any way what we would classify as ‘alive’, which is now based on brain activity, nor could it have any chance of survival outside the womb. Asking for an abortion should be treated no differently to any other medical procedure, and this is where almost all abortions currently happen.

They only care about controlling others and shouldn't be called pro-life as they don't care about you after you are born.

Sure, some are religious nuts, but I'm talking about those who see the legal, social and ethical side of being anti mass abortion. It's not that they don't want any abortions whatsoever, but that it not be a first option. Like something you can get done at a shop, as how you would get your nails done.

draw a venn diagram of pro lifers and religious people. you will see that not all religious people are pro life and not all pro lifers are religious. but there is some overlapp between these 2 groups and that's where the faith based reasoning comes from.

Christians use their faith as a source of morality because in Christian faith any person is created by God. The latin word fetus means off-spring. Life = breath is prominent throughout multiple scriptures "he breathed into their nostrils and they were alive" is a good example. The penalty for murder by Mosaic law was death, to force a woman to lose a child was a fine, creating a clear difference between abortion and murder. The standard scripture used to suggest biblical life in the womb is the scripture "I knew you before birth" which can also be interpreted as an confirmation of the sole pre-existing life, and also suggests that until a child is born the sole does not attach itself to the body. Certainly it was thought that that first breath connected sole and body in early Christian writings. This idea that abortion is murder is a modern interpretation not a traditional one. yes some Jewish scholars have also re-looked at scripture, but the record is pretty clear that abortion is not murder.
