What are your feelings about cremation on people who you were very close to?

Ashes to ashes - dust to dust.
I know when they cremated my Mom who I love very much, I just couldn't wrap my head around the fact that my Mom was now a pile of ashes. My boyfriend who died recently was also cremated. It's so hard for me to imagine that a guy that was so full of life and always made people laugh could be hushed forever and now he is just ashes.
I would have given both of them a funeral where you can be burried without a casket. You can pick a place that has to do with nature, like by a lake under a tree. I think they are good for the environment somehow.

Yeah, we had my mother cremated. It’s definitely weird, that exact same feeling you have of thinking of them as reduced to that.

But my mother’s biggest demand was that she not be buried. My father keeps her urn on his mantle in the living room, and I actually feel kind of peaceful with her there. I blow a kiss to her when I pass, I take the urn down and just hold it and sit with it on her birthday, Mother’s Day, etc. I feel like she’d feel more gone if she was buried or if we tossed her ashes into the wind. I like still having her around, I still feel her presence.

When Jesus resurrects those who died it won't matter what condition they were in, mummy or ashes, if they were with Jesus they will have a new body, if not they will be resurrected with their old body for a time.

Thank you for your kind words. I really needed to hear that.
So both my mom and Patrick have new bodies. That's pretty cool. I had forgotten about that.
My sister. ade sure Mom was born again and my neighbor said the sinner's prayer with Patrick. I taught him some very important things about being a Christian, so he knew.
Now, I ask you what happens to you if you didn't get baptized? Will a person still go to heaven?

Not yet, that is in Jesus "2nd" coming, but more specifically, there's the 1st resurrection for those who were with christ who will meet Jesus in the clouds (along with the current living) and the 2nd resurrection for those who were not with Christ.

So basically with Jesus 2nd coming there will be those who are perhaps at the funeral grounds with their relative being buried and an won't be a ghost rising it will be their own body made new rising.🤔 Oh the look on their faces that day... there will be the cocky relative that mocked the death... ha ha I'm still alive, but won't rise to heaven then, the "daughter" that was sad who will rise with mom.

The Bible mentions people are asleep I'm the grave, but when they wake up doesn't mean they will realize 5,000 years past, lol😆. Let's review, we want to be with the 1st NOT second resurrection 😆👍.

Can't forget to mention. Regardless of where loved ones go, heaven or the 2nd death, don't forget about yourself.

They can turn your ashes into an ingredient for making a concrete steppingstone or planter box. That way you can plant some pretty flowers in it and always be reminded of them whenever flowers bloom.

That's pretty cool!;His brother has his ashes at his house, so I don't know if he will do anything but let them sit there and collect dust.
He absolutely loved Redwood trees! If I had his ashes I would investigate if there is a place to sprinkle his ashes in a Redwood tree forest.

They have Redwoods along the California coast near Big Sur. It's also a beautiful drive down Highway 101 along the coast.

That sounds perfect, but not doable.
I think his brother is going to take his ashes and have them with his wife he was married to for 24 years until she died at age 47 back in 2009.
The two of them were soulmates and I don't think he could ever really love anyone else but her.
I always felt that no matter how close he and I were, there was this invisible wedge between us. Like he just couldn't let go of it.
I know he'd want to be with his Maureen 💔 again. 🙂

my parents are not cremated but my wife;s parents were and there remains are in a little box at a cemetery. We have some of my father laws ashes in our front yard where we planted a dogwood tree for him.

There's no coming back from that one! I mean, let's say that, later this year, someone comes up with a way to bring someone back to life. If you're just ashes, there's no hope at all for you! Especially since they put you into a cardboard box and burn you up with the box so, some of your ashes are cardboard.

Well, remember that song I just sent you? When it first came out Feb. `89, I copied the lyrics to it by hand one night after another of his yelling fits that summer and left them on the kitchen table near his seat over night as if it was a song I had written before going to bed but forgot to take it to my room with me. When I got up the next day, everything changed!! He posted the lyrics on the fridge and the only time he yelled at me after that was one night, we were playing cards with his brother & sister and I did something he thought was a stupid play. So, I won out over him and he was quite civil to me the last 15 years of his life. That's why I played it at his funeral. Besides, if he WAS still alive, my evil, greedy ex-sisters wouldn't have fucked mom & I over and the house would still belong to us!!
I was just thinking last night that, if he lived `til Sept,. this year, he'd be 100 years old. His mother and two of his brothers nearly made it! Besides, he died at 81 and people at the funeral couldn't believe he was even 61! He would take a walk every day at LEAST 15 miles up river so, he was in GREAT health. I'm SURE he would've made it to 100 if they would've cured his cancer!

Also, around that time, his brother, Howard, died and dad was on his way to the airport to fly to Texas for the funeral. Mom was driving. He was saying his goodbyes and it came my turn. He looked at me half smiling and said, "Well, I'll but YOU can't wait to get rid of me!". I stepped up to him and gave him a big hug. Mom was standing behind me and, later, told me that he was so stunned by me hugging him, he looked like I could've knocked him over with a feather! Maybe that had something to do with it, too.

I would like to be cremated. My mom also wants to be cremated. My brother wants to have a grave and be buried. I'm honestly okay no matter what my family chooses to do.

Yeah it’s like they never existed when they are cremated, one of my best friends was cremated, not even a grave to visit, I guess it was his choice

Funerals are way too expensive so most people end up being cremated.
My caregiver said they can turn a deceased person into fertilizer now.
I wouldn't keep that in the house and that's a fact.

On the last day of school my friend, Lana, went to babysit some kids that night.
Someone knocked on the door and she let him in. She knew him because he was the boyfriend of the lady she was babysitting for.
Well, he went on a rampage! He got a big butcher knife and stabbed my friend 14 times and slit her throat.
He went crazy thinking she was out with another man.
Anyway, her family had her in a coffin (my first experience with death) and she was burried at the cemetery. But no tombstone - just a little round piece of metal with her grave site number.

When we all were old enough to drive, we would cut school and go visit out friend Lana.
I heard her family moved to another, but left Lana here.
I still think about her.
He got picked up by the police while sitting on the curb where his mom lived
He went to jail but for only five years because she let him in the house, it was oy 2nd degree murder. I think of her now 😥

As acceptable as being buried in a casket. I want that as well. I see it as valid as any other way.
