Why are left wing people known as less religious people while their theory or dictionary definition has nothing against religion and their values like equality and justice are compatible with religious values?
Right wing nuts just want to be assholes. If they can't accuse you of being "liberal" then they will try the "unpatriotic" then the "irreligious". they just want to play bingo instead of admit the fault is with themselves.

They can be just like religious people.
Think of it as the mentality behind religiosity, is what left wing people can also experience.
A lot of religions are against what they support. Like abortion, gays, etc.
