Why would my pastor get upset with me for helping people financially?

Question

Today my pastor called me to his office and get every angry at the fact that I help out a woman pay for her nedical expenses and also the pastor complaining about ask why would I tip the restaurant waitress $100 instead I should be going that money out to the church he also went in telling me I will end up in hell for helping people. I do pay my tighting every Sunday I just can't understand why would my pastor get upset over me helping other people he was angry expected mento donate that money ti the chruch instead of helping a woman who is jobless went on that I should given up that $100 to the church instead of handing it out to the waitress. I tough us Christians we should have compassion be kind server other. What is going on?

I’m sorry to say this, but your pastor is a false teacher. You are right, Jesus does encourage us to have compassion on others and to help the poor and needy. Any church or pastor who does not uphold the fundamental teachings of Christ is not a church worth attending. It’s good that this alarmed you, because it absolutely should. I highly recommend you leave or at least call out the hypocrisy.

No, you're right. Christianity does call for compassion, and donating to a church is optional. You can donate your money to whoever you want, if you want. It's yours. He sounds like a psycho. It's people like him that unfortunately give ignorant people a reason to talk badly about religious people as a whole, saying this as a non-religious person.

Charity is a virtue. You did a really good thing by helping that lady. You may not imagine what it meant to her. You're a really good person for helping those who are less fortunate.

Sounds like you're pastor is both corrupt and money hungry which in of itself is considered a sin. If it were me, I'd leave and either go to another church or worship on my own. FYI it's not a pastors place to cast judgement and tell people they are going to hell.

So many pastors these days are greedy men. Matthew 25:40-45 shows that aid to the poor is an offering to the Lord who needs nothing for himself. The book of Isaiah rebukes the Israelites who abuse the poor and the widows and then try to justify themselves via offerings.
