Was my old pastor bad for thinking this way?

He kicked me out of his church because I told him I had a problem forgiving people and wanted help to forgive others and he later told me boyfriend to dump me and ghost me without explanation. I never asked him for a single penny but he thought I was taking advantage of him cause he worked harder than me.

I remember he said a local charity that helped people who were starving and poor was worthless and a waste of resources because they spent some unnecessary dollars on marketing and public relations to boost their popularity and overall donation prospects. I believe charity is sacred and anybody that opposes an organization that has proven life saving history is missing the point.

To be honest, based on your side of the story and what was displayed in the description. I can only ask this. Does your pastor really line up with the pastoral duties outlined within the bible? 1 Timothy 3:2-7; Galatians 1:6–9; 2 Timothy 4:2 It is a rather lengthy list of about 15 items but I encourage anyone to read them yourself and come to a conclusion. If he indeed does not line up with one or all of these, then I really cannot urge you to continue staying in that environment, and I would recommend finding elsewhere to attend.

In-fact, that would be going against the core tenants of being a pastor in title. Anybody can share scripture and connect deeper with God on personal level. But Pastors, Preachers, and Leaders, are all held to higher standards due to the impact that they have on a persons mental health and life choices. That is why I personally wouldn't become one unless you are extremely positive that this is the path you love.

Based off of his behavior I cannot really condone his actions, nor will I shame him because I don't want unforgiveness to reside within myself. Nor do I want to be disrespectful to someone who is in a position of ministry, whether that's pastor, preacher, prophet, etc. But I do believe in approaching someone when you see that there is a fault that they are making.

Additionally, there are biblical ways to approach someone about their actions.

If you feel the need to say something to him about his actions just remember

- be private; keep the matter between the two of you, until further witnesses are necessary (Matthew 18:15)

- be respectful (1 Timothy 5:17)

- be gentle (Galatians 6:1)

- be humble (Philippians 2:3)

- be gracious (Colossians 4:6)

Sounds like a bad pastor to me. I remember my pastor was similar as he only cared about money and how big his church was. My family were once apart of his church which was small then over the next four years it got bigger that the church had to move. The church finally moved to a larger building which sits 1,000 and had three services. Notice the church voted to help with finances like phone, gas allowance, health insurance, even a new car for the pastor and his family. Left the church as it didn't feel like a family which it was before it got larger and the focus away from the community. We used to feed the homeless every month before the city put a stop to it years ago. Honestly if my pastor kicked me out, I would find a new church that follows the bible and the pastor treats his church members with love and compassion.
