Matthew 22 36-40

Because people make faith much too difficult. We're all sinful. None of us are worthy of heaven. God doesn't expect perfection from us. He just wants us to love eachother and live for him each day.

In Matthew 22: 36-40 Jesus is asked "teacher which is the greatest commandment". And Jesus responded "love the lord God with all your heart, soul and mind. And love your neighbor as you love yourself.

I think this is one of the best verses in the bible. Because it distills Jesus's message down to one simple word, "LOVE". Because if everybody loved God, lived for him and loved their neighbor. Then what possible badcould come from this world? It would bea near heaven on earth.

Most of the verses I like can't really be isolated, as they usually require a larger passage.

I like John 1.1-14 and Psalm 114 (in the Douay-Rheims and Knox versions; most other translations have it as Psalm 116.1-9). If you do need just one verse though, probably Luke 22.19.
