It seems obvious that God, if there is a God, does not care about us. Children die of painful diseases. Innocent people are killed by the tens of thousands in natural disasters. Atrocities like the American genocide, the Jewish holocaust, the bombing of Gaza, and the invasion of Ukraine are allowed to continue. If there is a God, it certainly does not care about us. The faithful and the skeptic are equally afflicted, but in the United States and elsewhere, the skeptical are on average more prosperous.

Which god? If we’re talking jehovah, his love is questionable if only because there are so many people that tell me this loving, forgiving, kind god will damn me to an eternity of suffering if I don’t follow these hyper-specific rules made up from mistranslations of a roughly 2000 year old holy text. I don't know about you, but that doesn’t sound very living and forgiving, especially if this same god made us to be who we are.

You are misrepresenting both the Bible and the nature of Jehovah’s love.

Scripture shows that Jehovah does not condemn people to eternal torment. Ecclesiastes 9:5 says, “For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing,” and Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The penalty for sin is death, not endless suffering.

Jehovah’s standards are not arbitrary rules made up from mistranslations. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”
His commands are for our good, as Deuteronomy 10:12-13 explains: “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees… for your own good.”

Far from being unloving, Jehovah “is patient… not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). His love was proven in that “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). These scriptures show that his love is not only deep, but also patient, merciful, and entirely free of the eternal torment idea, which is not taught in the Bible.

This shows that his love is beyond measure, as he was willing to give what was most precious for the benefit of mankind.
